บท 57: Zoe's birthday party (5)

Treva was awake when I went to check on her later that afternoon, and she was happy to join the party.

"You could have gone on your own.", I told Treva. "This is your home now. No place is off-limits."

She smiled in response, and I could see that she was still overwhelmed with everything.

Just as I told her that she can go anywhere, I remembered that I lied, so I had to clarify.

"You can go anywhere in the villa. If the door is closed, knock. If the door is locked, then it's off-limits. The Garden and the clear area around the mansion are safe, but don't go into the forest on your own for now. There are security mechanisms in place, and I will show you several paths after this commotion is over so that you can move around without triggering traps..."

Treva's face fell. "I will just stay inside for now."

Well, that's what I said.
