He had called everyone with a rank to base. The atmosphere grew tenser with every second that passed. Men had gathered, their features hidden behind stoic masks and Damien stood in front, staring out at all of them. They all knew about the attack on the shipments and warehouse, knew about Leo's imprisonment and yet neither of them had stepped up or said anything about it.

They all knew why he was here.

In a different reality, Damien, being Leo's closest living relative, would have been his second in command, working in tandem to control and expand their empire. And when something unexpected happened, Damien wouldn't have much trouble sliding seamlessly into the spot as leader. It probably would have been more expected, and less of a shock, easier to accept.
