บท 158: Unwelcome Guest XI

"Please wait a moment Jun!" Rias suddenly interjected in a bit of a panic.

"Hmm?" Jun turned towards the redhead.

"There must be some kind of mistake. You might not know onii-sama well and thus reached such a conclusion but I do and I know he would never do such a things to an ally." Rias hurriedly said.

"Sometimes my dear Rias, being too close to an individual only makes it harder to see through them. Having too high an opinion of an individual will lead to just as many misjudgements as having one too low. The only difference is the direction the misjudgements will go in." Jun explained.

The red headed devil wanted to interject once more but Jun held up his hand.

"I have no doubt Sirzechs is a caring and gentle man would would never so much as thing of scheming in such a way . . ." He started, surprising everyone in the room.

"But that's when he is dealing with you. Most others do not have that privilege and in fact, even Sirzechs himself can't afford that kind of softness when dealing with most people." Jun continued with his explanation, the sense in his words made them hard to refute as well.

"You might think I see Sirzechs' actions as wrong and despicable to the point of not only denouncing them but also considering retaliation but that is simply not true. Neither me nor my wives think that . . . Well, Silea might not be too fond of such subterfuge." He said, the last part earning a "Hmph!" from the amazon.

"Then why?" This time time Sona was the curious one.

"If Jun-san and your honorable wives have no problem with the act itself, why are clearly considering drastic action?" She inquired.

"It's quite simple Sona-chan. He picked the wrong target." Jun shrugged, making everyone speechless.

"Sirzechs, can trick, trap, scam, murder and torture whoever he pleases and I won't give damn . . . Up until the moment I'm the affected party that is. Just because I understand why he did what he did and even think it was proper thing to do as a ruler, that does not mean I'll let it go." He continued.

"The action was right, performing it with my group as the target was the mistake, that's all. Still . . . I'm very curious . . ." Jun showed a devious and amused smirk that deeply worried Grayfia.

"Curious about what Jun-sama?" The silver haired maid tentatively asked.

"Your husband had the stones to scheme against me but I'm truly curious. Does he have the stones to follow through if I walk straight into the underworld after you tell him that I saw through everything and went anyway?" Jun wondered, stupefying everyone.

"I have to advise against this course of action." Scathach suddenly interjected, bringing everyone out of their stupor.

Everyone in the room not part of Jun's group thought the advice was but a matter of course. Why would he walk into such a deadly situation just for his curiosity. It was simply putting himself into danger without any good reason.

Alas, their reasoning was quite a bit off from what Scathach thought and what Jun saw from her advice.

"I guess you're right my wife. No matter the outcome, it is still not changing the fact that I would be walking into a trap of my opponent's design which would somewhat damage my prestige." Jun said and everyone looked at him in disbelief at such a reasoning.

But, just as they were expecting Scathach to show a trouble expression or speechlessness at the great misunderstanding, or even a swift correction since they seemed to be quite close and trusting enough for her to be able to do so without consequence, the Queen of Dun Scaith sagely nodded to show her approval of Jun's way of thinking, marking it the same as hers.

"Still . . . I am quite curious . . ." Jun thought out loud before something came to mind.

"Well, I was planning on letting the other members of the group taste some action rather than moving myself to solve any arising issues . . ."

"So if I send one of my dear wives as a representative with a small escort, that not only will my curiosity be satisfied, my prestige will remain intact so long as things do not go badly for said wife." He concluded.

'WHAT!?' Was the question in everyone's mind. They didn't have the slightest of doubts that Jun loved and was fiercely protective of his entire group, much less his beloved wives. So how could he send them into what they thought was a veritable death trap.

Did his arrogance and overconfidence blind his usually accurate judgement? They wondered.

Grayfia on the other hand, as weird as it might sound, had developed an unflinching trust in Jun, one that was only reinforced by his terrifying deductions based on a few words she transmitted for her husband.

This trust, however, only shocked and even frightened her more. After all, if he was willing to send his wives, it had to mean he was absolutely confident.

She felt Jun had a nasty habit of gambling with his life if the profit was tempting enough and he thought his chances were good but he never did the same with the lives of those under his charge, much less the lives of his wives. At least she did not think he did.

"That is indeed an option." Scathach nodded, confirming Grayfia's suspicion and further compounding the shock of the others who wondered what was wrong with the skewed judgment that Jun and his wives showed.

"The question is . . . Who should I send?"
