I am happy that I have met someone, who could become a potential friend and/or rival. The most significant point is that Aaron could potentially somewhat keep up with me, which is important for my future social life.
Otherwise, things could get awkward if my theoretical friends constantly feel inferior to me. That's a recipe of disaster that I would like to avoid if possible. Maybe it is my overactive imagination, but I can see myself dealing with jealousy-filled backstabbing in such a case, and no one, me included, wants that.
Anyway, I have another 3 hours before it is time for me to go home for dinner, so I decide to use that time to cover some distance. Viridian City, the next milestone of my journey, and the official end of Route 4 is about 200 km away.
Viridian City is the first Tier 6 city that is on my path to the coast, and it is also the first city that I am going to visit that I know from my previous life.
Honestly, the only thing I believe could resemble the city from the games is the Gym, and with that I mean it's typing.
Actually, the Gym there is one of the 12 Major Gyms, so there is that. On top of that, is the fact that the city is enormous, so I can't use the game as some kind of reference for its design, that would be ridiculous. Still, I am curious if there the Major Gym is going to be a ground-type one or maybe a generalist one. Is Giovanni going to be the Gym Leader, or is it going to be someone else?
I have heard nothing about Team Rocket and to be honest, I don't see any kind of evil team, the way they are portrait in the original, surviving the alliance. At least from what I have learned about them until now, I can't see them tolerating those terrorist groups.
I think the only way groups like that could potentially exist, is if they are just part of the criminal underworld instead of being straight-up evil teams, kinda like the mafia. It will be interesting to see and learn about that in the future, but honestly, I think it's going to take a while for me to come in contact with information like that.
As far as meeting any such group goes, I don't think that would end well. At least not for me. The existence of an underworld and some criminal groups is nearly guaranteed, because honestly as long as there are humans there is going to be crime.
That does not mean that I want to come in contact with criminal groups, especially not ones that manage to exist under the rule of a global government. At least, not while I am relatively weak. Damn it, I started to digress again.
Anyway, it will be interesting to see Viridian City, but for that to happen I have to cover the 200 km. If I cover around 30 km in the next 3 hours that still leaves me with about 170 km. Since today is Mewday, I could theoretically cover the 170 km by the end of Dialday, if I skip my visit to the Bug Club once again.
I am actually considering doing just that because that seems more useful to me than fighting in the Bug Club. Besides Viridian City should have a Battle Club, and there I could use all of my Pokemon, not just my bug types.
I spend the next 3 hours walking through Route 4. Occasionally, I would meet a wild Pokemon and use Teddiursa, Weedle to beat them. In case the opponent was too strong for them, I used either Nyx or one of the Nidoran instead.
None of the wild Pokemon had any desirable potential, the best one being a yellow potential Oddish. We also found no new materials during that time, but I have to admit that we may not have been as thorough as usual. Mostly because I was walking faster than usual, which gave me and my Pokemon less time to check out the area.
I also fought against only 2 Rookies and one Junior during that time, refusing about 8 more challenges. The Rookie battles were 2 vs 2, and I won them using only Teddiursa. This is impressive for a new capture, especially when I only had Teddiursa for 5 days, which proved that Teddiursa was already pretty strong, at least for his stage, before the capture.
The battle against the Junior was 3 vs 3, and I only used Nyx for that one. I was planning to focus on her for a while in preparation for her evolution. The fights were useful for training as well as bonding and together with the Moon's Buttercup, I am sure that she can evolve into Umbreon soon.
None of the trainers had any interesting Pokemon, the strongest one being a Sandslash belonging to the Junior-class trainer. Anyway, after the 3 hours were up I went home, and we, just now, finished our dinner. After dinner, my father decided to go out to check up on his Pokemon.
He said that Skye could break through any moment and that he wanted to see if she had succeeded while he was working. Half an hour later, he returned with a bright smile on his face. "Skye broke through to the gold stage." He told us and laughed happily. We congratulated him and had a small group hug.
"Tomorrow after work, I'm going to visit the Alliance Center in Pewter City to update my trainer rank, so I'll probably come home a few hours later than usual." My father informed us. "Sure, honey. I'll give Mikail his dinner and wait for you." My mother said, and I had to chime in as well.
"Oh, I'll wait too. Let's eat together," I said. No way was I going to be the only one eating dinner. "None of you need to wait for me. I'm not sure how long it will take me to come home, so it's better if you eat dinner without me. I'll find something to eat in Pewter City while waiting for the upgrade to finish." My father interjected.
My mother looked as if she wanted to protest, but my father looked her in the eyes, and I have no idea what kind of messages they exchanged through their couple telepathy, but a few moments later she reluctantly nodded. With that out of the way, we relaxed the rest of the evening, and I went to sleep after watching a movie about a Jolteon named Bolt.
The next day I managed to cover around 60 km, and Nyx managed to find a Spelon berry.
'Name: Spelon Berry
Type: Plant
Class: E
Uses: Contains nutrition and plant energy.
Can be eaten as food. Its extreme spicy taste increases the eater's metabolism for a while, it also clears any sleepiness. Completely actives all cells in the body, which is useful for any physical training.
Warning! May cause dehydration, because of excessive sweating, and nausea, because of extreme spiciness.
We also briefly saw a Yanma, but it escaped before I could try to catch it, and I would have definitely tried to catch it.
'Species: Yanma
Gender: Male
Type: Bug, Flying
Potential: Light Blue
Stage: Bronze-stage (mid)
Genetic variation: Ancient
Abilities: Speed Boost, Compound Eyes
Talents: Danger Sense
Affinities: Bug, Flying'
As soon as I used my telekinesis to check its status it seemed to have sensed something because it immediately took off. After seeing his status I concluded that his Danger Sense went off after I used my telekinesis on him.
The regret I felt once I checked his status after Yanma flew away was immeasurable. Light blue potential, an ancient gene, and a f*king talent on top of that. That thing was easily on par with Mothra talent-wise, and I let it slip away. It was the second Pokemon with a genetic variant that I saw, after the Sentret variant, and I let it get away.
I was genuinely depressed for about 30 minutes, and Nyx, as well as Xatu, worriedly circled me during that time, trying to cheer me up. It took me 30 minutes, but after releasing a deep sigh I let it go. Still, I am sure that it would have taken me longer to regain my cool without the two trying to cheer me up.
Shortly before dinner, I returned home, and for the first time since my arrival on Terra, we were eating dinner without my father. I asked my mother how my father was going to go to Pewter City, and she said he would fly there on Skye.
Apparently, it would take Skye only 30 minutes to fly there, despite Pewter City being around 450 km away from Hope Town. The funny thing was, that according to my mother, that was only Skye's speed while making sure my father was safe.
If she went all out she could make it in less than 10 minutes on her own. I knew from the Pokedex data in my previous life that Pidgeot could reach up to Mach 2, but to hear about it from my mother, and to know that Skye could apparently go even faster if she wanted to, was mind-blowing.
My father came home shortly before it was time for me to sleep. "Before you stands Expert-class trainer Edward." He bragged a bit and started to laugh happily. "Congrats, honey." My mother told him while she went up to him to hug him. I could naturally not be left out, so I went up to them and joined their hug.
"Congratulation, dad!" I told my father while squeezing the two. A short while later we broke up the hug and went to the sofa. My father took out his new trainer card to show off, and to not disappoint him we ohh'd and ahh'd. *pfft*
That day my father went up the ladder gaining the corresponding benefits of his new class, but there was a catch. Non-active, or not, in case of an emergency he had to step up. On the upside in such situations, he would be a team leader with another 9 trainers under him, that were all Seniors.
Anyway, after talking for a while it was time for me to sleep, so I said my farewells and went to sleep. The next day I resumed my journey through Route 4, but compared to yesterday my luck was not as good. I did not find anything useful, and none of the Pokemon had any attractive potential.
The best one was a deep yellow Ekans that crossed our way, but just like all the other wild Pokemon that wanted to battle us, it got its slippery ass kicked. By the end of the day, I had covered another 60 km, leaving me with only 50 km until Viridian City, which meant I could reach Viridian City by the end of tomorrow.
Since tomorrow was Dialday, that would allow me to end my exploring weekdays while reaching my next milestone, which meant that after the weekend I could start my new week by exploring the city. In that vein, I covered the last 55 km, it turned out that I was missing 55 km, not 50 km, on Dialday.
I actually managed to gain something useful that day. It was not something we found, but something one of my opponents wagered, instead of money. One of the Juniors that I won against bet a Fire Chip, and I accepted.
'Name: Fire Chip
Type: Fire
Class: F
Uses: It's a fragment of a Fire Gem, that has retained the ability to absorb and store small amounts of Fire energy from the environment.
Contains fire-type energy and can be used as a supplement to help fire-type Pokemon.'
While it was not that useful, since the amount of fire energy was truly small, my space could still upgrade it, so it turned out to be extremely useful. Especially since I finally had something to help along with my Growlithe egg.
Once, my space replicated enough D-Class chips, I would surround the egg with them. It shouldn't take more than 2 weeks to begin the first round, so I did not have to wait for too long. Anyway, after reaching the outer periphery of Viridian City I had Xatu Teleport me home. I spent the rest of the day chilling with my parents.
