บท 105: The Cabin

Stepping inside the cabin was like being transported into another world, full of warmth and pleasant aromas. The room was shaped like an “L,” with the reception on the smaller side. There was a desk directly in front of the door where an old lady sat waiting with a smile as big and warm as that of the man who showed us the way inside. Her appearance, her glasses, and even her hair practically screamed “grandma,” and the fact that a cup of hot cocoa was handed to us along with her heartfelt welcome sold it all over again.

“Come, come! Get out of the cold, dears.” Her eyes went from me to Gwyn and back to me. “Especially you, dearest. Wearing such dresses in this weather could very well be your end.” Her rough, wrinkled hands patted my outer cape to clear the snow that still hung to it.

I took a sip from the mug that was unceremoniously thrust into my hands and couldn’t help but moan a little at the taste. It was just the right mix of sweet cocoa and thick milk.
