บท 15: Qualities of a King
After accepting Otohime's invitation, the group that consists of Kenshin, Otohime, Jinbe, and the Seahorse fishman rode a small manta ray ship.
Along the way, Otohime was incredibly interested in Kenshin because the wrath that she felt inside of Kenshin surpasses even the wrath she felt from Fisher Tiger.
Sensing Otohime's gaze Kenshin decided to ignore her existence completely and just enjoyed the view he was seeing, but Otohime couldn't hold back and asked, "Kenshin, can you tell me somethings about the land above the sea?"
Kenshin glanced at Otohime and saw stars in her eyes as she was waiting for him to start talking, shaking his head in defeat Kenshin said, "The land above the sea isn't much different from the fishman island, but it is a lot more dangerous above than below here. Even though pirates always visit your country you still have the protection of Whitebeard making the evil pirates lower their heads when visiting here in fear of Whitebeard's wrath. but at the land above there are thousands of islands, and not everyone is protected which makes it more dangerous."
"Wow, the land above is really interesting. It is my dream to bring my own people above and live harmoniously with the humans." Otohime said as she looked above.
Kenshin could only roll his eyes at Otohime's reaction and said, "Otohime, don't you know that your kind especially mermaids are like merchandise in the eyes of the humans? if you bring your people above and let them live beside the humans then you will only bring destruction to your own kind."
Hearing Kenshin's words Otohime just shook her head and replied, "Not all humans are the same, there are some humans who are kind as you but there will surely be cruel humans who want to kidnap my people and sell them into slaves. but I believe that when the World Government approves my petition to be able to bring my people above then those cruel humans will stop their cruelty and the fishmen will be able to live peacefully happily coexisting with humans."
Kenshin's looked at Otohime like she was an idiot, he then turned his attention towards Jinbe who could only lower his head not wanting to comment on their discussion.
"You're naive, Otohime." This is the only thing Kenshin could say as he stopped talking to Otohime turning a deaf ear when she tries to initiate a conversation.
The journey didn't take long and after a few minutes, they finally arrive at the gate of the Ryugu Palace.
The guards who were in charge immediately opened the gate when they saw that it was their Queen who came back, as the gate opened a flood of water assaulted Kenshin but he was unaffected as he was covered by a water bubble and Jinbe blocked most of the water protecting Kenshin from getting carried by the current.
The manta ray ship landed in front of a huge door where a huge fishman that was bare-chested stood there awaiting their arrival.
"I'm back, Neptune" Otohime swam towards the huge fishman and stood beside him.
Seeing his wife returning Neptune smiled sweetly, he then turned his attention towards the human who jumped off the manta ray and asked, "Who is this human, Otohime?"
'What a huge fishman' Kenshin thought as he stared curiously at Neptune.
Hearing her husband question Otohime pointed at Kenshin and said, "This human is Kenshin, I met him earlier but we had a slight misunderstanding and he accidentally made all of the royal guards who were guarding me faint."
"Oh?" Neptune's interest was piqued after Otohime explained what happened.
He then started studying the human in front of him and said, "I didn't think that a human with the qualities of a king would visit my palace again."
"Qualities of a king? what the hell are you talking about?" Kenshin asked in confusion, he was still thinking about what happened earlier and what kind of power did he unconsciously unleash making the royal guards faint.
Neptune was surprised at Kenshin's question, he approached Kenshin and said, "What you unleashed earlier is called "Conqueror's Haki" but unlike armament and observation haki which you could learn with proper training. conqueror's haki on the other hand is a different type of haki that can't be attained through training and only one in several million people are born with this ability."
He then looked at Kenshin and continued, "It is said that whoever possesses this type of Haki has the qualities of a king, and are known as Supreme Rulers."
After Neptune explained what the conqueror's haki is, Kenshin fell silent for a moment trying to take in all the information he has received.
"Neptune, do you by any chance know how I can control this conqueror's haki?" Kenshin asked, he was clearly interested in the found haki he has awakened and is trying to master it as soon as possible.
But contrary to Kenshin's expectation Neptune shook his head and said, "Unfortunately, Conqueror's Haki cannot be strengthened through direct use as the other two forms of haki. Rather, the user can increase their force of will by becoming physically stronger."
"Force of will, maybe it is somewhat connected with the flow of energy within my body and maybe it is the missing piece that I needed to master ryou," Kenshin said to himself as he started to hypothesize the possibility of conqueror's haki being connected to ryou.
After getting lost in his thoughts, Kenshin remembered that he was outside and was currently visiting the royal palace. he looked at the fishmen around and lowered his head in embarrassment.
"Sorry for making you wait," Kenshin said as he apologized.
"Ho ho ho, you don't need to apologize, young friend, it looks like you discovered something. how about we postpone your visit and let you internalize the thing you discovered today lest you forget them."
Kenshin smiled at Neptune and bowed, "Thank you for your understanding, I will be taking my leave for now and will visit you as soon as possible."
With that said Kenshin jumped back on top of the manta ray with Jinbe following behind him.
