Rick watched in astonishment as his daughter got struck by an arrow, right on her chest. His mind went blank for a second. He didn't know how to react at all.

A lot of things went through his mind, like the day when he lost his wife in a raid that happened inside that refuge. That fact traumatized him so much that he acquired a profound fear of Dreads, just hearing their name was enough to make him shiver.

Rick always blamed himself for the death of his wife. How could he blame irrational animals, after all? For him, it made no sense. Instead, it was his own fault, because he wasn't quick enough or courageous enough to fight for her or help her somehow.
