Well this is a surprise.
I'm currently sitting on my throne in the command room and watching a video of an Earth Kingdom soldier lifting a Topaz in the air before throwing her in a cluster fusion of a Ruby. The victory was short lived as the soldier's arm was cut off by an Onyx and was stabbed through the head by a Schorl.
The rest of the analytical Gems also saw this but remained silent as they waited for my orders. They are stressed by the unexpected factor and I could see why.
The Topaz soldier was lifted in the air by an Earth manipulator and possessed an actual threat for the empire as a whole, why? Well, this particular ethnicity of the planet has shown affinity for gravity and other variations of earth manipulation, however the angle of the Topaz Gem's head as it was lifted in the air showed it was lifted by its gem.
That means that this particular strand of the planet's species can interact with crystal gemstone and by extension a Gem's gem. This is of course a major surprise, as the entirety of Homeworld history has never encountered such a thing. You'd be surprised how much our territory has expanded because of Yellow and Blue over the past few years, White is also expanding but they're catching up.
The point is we've seen a lot and if such an ability existed then our enemies would have already used it. Geokinesis is not a rare ability in the universe and I know for a fact that the Beryls don't have this ability. They are of Yellow Diamond's court and she definitely would have told us or at the very least me if they had this power over us. The unique energy of a gem prevents such cases from happening.
Looks like I will have to develop a type of Gem armor. What was that? Are you wondering why we don't already have that? Why haven't we or more importantly why haven't I covered up our weakness that literally puts our heart on our sleeves? (Or other places)
Well the answer is that it wasn't really necessary at this point due to a fun fact about Gems, we are broken as a species.
I already went into the advantages we have over other species in terms of natural environment and one such advantage is high resistance to heat and energy to the point where we are immune. This made energy weapons that were super easy to make, easily distributable, and had minimal additional cost, useless. The most they could do was cause a pushback or be damaged from the impact itself.
That leaves our enemies to use weapons on the more physical side to combat us and we also have armor and metal work that was assimilated from multiple cultures throughout the universe. The armour that covers a Gem's body and their gems can protect them from high profile rail-guns and similar weapons. It's not perfect, but it still works wonderfully.
There is also close quarters combat, but again multiple cultures and fighting styles throughout the universe as well as the innate talent and weapons of Gem kind make us high quality warriors that are produced in large amounts.
Over the course of Homeworlds expansion White analysed the culture, tactics, weapons, etc of multiple species, including forging techniques that were improved upon by Gem technicians. So… assimilate!
The point of the rant being, this Earth Kingdom population can pose a threat to the entirety of Gem kind should they go interstellar. Wow, the hope of the universe and it was set aside as a starting planet for me.. did White know? This is a serious issue and she knew my plan to give my troops experience, gathering intel was my job but if she sat on this… no she would have told me.
"My Diamond." Pearl interrupts me from going down my hole, she always seems to do that. Whenever I find myself thrusting into my go to hole, she always interrupts me and breaks the mood. Good girl!
"Send the new orders." I responded. "Attacks on large settlements would be through auxiliary and long range means while medium and lower would be met with the same approach in teams." We can test out our siege weapons, cannons, air forces and hehehehehe.
Calm down! I can enjoy myself here, but I have to consider the lives of my Gems because of *Sigh~* responsibility.
Pearl replied in a voice with a tint of worry. "Yes my Diamond, it shall be done." Nice setup!
"Well if worse comes to worse, we can just clean them all up using the ships." I said as I casually leaned my head on my hand against the arm of the chair, particles shifting as my head moved.
This seemed to put the room at ease as they were reminded of our standing over this species we are currently invading.
"We will proceed according to the plan."
With my affirmation they went back to work and the sounds of machinery and typing began to fill the room before I put up the one way barrier with Pearl standing behind, waiting. For now I pulled up a few tabs and began to work on the design of the gem protection and I can't use my own design because it would be too much.
Of course I'm referring to Eda, my AI bodyguard, assistant, weapon, and interface to the whole Gem network. She is constantly covering me in a see-through, skin-tight shield that can withstand force equal to that of a habitable planet. This includes my Gem and will prevent any common weapon from damaging it and the best thing is no one can notice as it constantly shifts as I move. So it's basically an invincible shield or plot armor if you really think about it.
It's also preset to let certain things through depending on the situations like water or particular Gems for headpats and I can feel things as though it's not there. Broken yes I know.
How am I powering such a monstrous machine?
Several Arc reactors, Quantum Batteries, Fusion batteries, and the like that I reverse engineered based upon my previous memories and Fallen knowledge. It was stupid hard! It took me an entire year to make all of this and find a way to keep it secured to stop it from being damaged or blown up. On a side note I made a small hammerspace to hold everything.
Not too big, just the size of a factory.
All in all I can't use this design for mass production and they could be improved a bit more as well, for now they won't spontaneously combust on me and to ensure that Eda has several worker AI's and robots constantly performing maintenance. I wish I could see the real deal so I could reverse engineer it, maybe even improve it.
Since I'm in a fictional world then I can assume other such worlds exist as well and despite the fact that I did an honest brag about making the power sources, my accelerated mind took a decade to perfect them. Yes I could use dimensional travel to travel to these worlds, cheat my way through life using the formulas and science of the Fallen.
But the thing is...I can't.
The Fallen have proved that an interdimenal entity can destroy a nearly invincible race on a whim, what chance do I have. Against the cosmic overlords of the fictional universe, the cloaking technology would be useless and even then I could be tracked.
If the super god like beings from Love Craft, SCP, Marvel, DC, or other broken as fuck universes found or detected me then… I don't know what could happen. They could come here right this second to kill me and I would be as helpless as the species I'm invading. I have an idea to achieve interdimensional "freedom" but I honestly have no idea where to start.
But I have hope in the fallen.
They have knowledge and skills from across the multiverse and I have the souls of beings that could destroy universes, let alone the Einsteins of the race. I could find a way to walk the multiverse path, eventually.
For now I'll design a protective device that could prevent both energy and physical damage from occurring to the gem that can be mass produced. It will probably be super easy, barely an inconvenience and as I say that I probably should have started working on it sooner. Eh, no one's is going to judge.
As I began working on the tabs I thought about how much of a surprise the Earth nation soldier was. If a hidden gem like this exists in a faction of the planet then there will most likely be more hidden in the dark.
A sadistic smile began to form on my face.
I can't wait! It looks like Remnant after will be a success!
On a side note.
You're probably wondering if there is any truth to what I said about the whole Gems having strong bodies that are resistant to energy that makes it hard for gems to be shattered. If that's the case how did Amethyst's gem crack so easily?
I can form theories on the reality to fiction ratio of the show, the weakness of a low Quartz gem, or the particular circumstance surrounding the accident. My own personal answer is…
She's a dumbass.
What's your favorite fictional weapon? Try to keep it to technology related weapons. It can be from comics, anime, movies, and the like.
