He watched her make her fingers into a fist, then spread them again to use the cup as a heat press. Her mouth quivered a bit.

‘Is she hurt?’ He gazed at her fingers.

Rosa kept on making the same motion with both palms. Her mouth, which was uncovered to drink the soup, blew on the fingers as well. Darce did not know what came over him. He quickly took the cup away from her hand.

Rosa was taken aback by the gesture, but she did not move in fear of spilling the cup with a hot drink. He grabbed her right hand and took the leather gloves off. His eyes went broad seeing the blisters on her fingers.

Rosa felt nervous with his direct approach. “He quickly took hold of her other hand and pulled the glove off.”

To his disappointment, there were some red patches on the other hand as well. He raised the hand before her, his eyes went sharp looking at hers for explanation.

Rosa opened her mouth, "I just…. It has been a long time since I had duels like this….”
