He nodded to the maid to leave. He quickly finished whatever was left on the plate. The Empress watched him, she was confused. Isabella did not know anything yet. Nicholas got up from the chair as soon as his plate was finished. He took the napkin from the side to erase his lips and walked to Isabella’s side. He raised a hand to check her temperature.

“Your Majesty?” She blinked startled.

A smile was pasted on Nicholas’s face. “It is Nicholas when we are alone not. Your Majesty.”

“It seems you are not under fever.” He bends down and plants a kiss on her head.

“Just because it is a ritual, you do not need to join me even when you do not feel well. Please rest well first.” Nicholas left a confused Isabella on the table.

Unknown to him Isabella was all red when he left the room. She was stunned for a while. “Your Majesty?”

Maria called Isabella, “Are you feeling sick?”

Isabella flinched at the call.
