บท 21: Monster Lands Expedition
They continued to improve their hill home. They went hunting for more creatures and even made trips to Fereldyn for things they couldn't make, like cast iron pots. After a week of meditation, Sargon broke through to the ebony level. The meditation increased his level-up speed by a lot. It would've taken him 4 months regularly instead. They continued hunting and training for weeks.
Sargon's body had aged to 21 by this time. He also noticed that his body's aging process had become so slow after hitting 21 that he might as well as stopped aging entirely. He attributed this to the lifespan of his race. After getting to ebony, he felt his lifespan increase by thousands of years. Pharis was almost to malachite level after training and fighting monsters nearly every day for these many weeks. Half a year later, Pharis broke through to malachite level. She now had half her sky filled up with stars now. Sargon decided it was now time for a deep incursion into the monster lands.
"Pharis, now that you are stronger, it is time to go deeper into the monster lands to find foes worthy of our might. These small fries can no longer satisfy our growth."
"Great Master! I was starting to get bored with them too. I need stronger opponents."
Sargon smiled hearing Pharis's response. He had found an excellent squire. they took a day to buy a detailed map of the deep monster lands in Fereldyn which was quite expensive. They had made more than enough money from monster hunting though. They got some supplies for their expedition before leaving Fereldyn. They were stopped by a familiar face though.
"Sir Jupiter!", he was called by Princess Yeseme walking towards them in full battle gear. Her spear on her back, and strangely enough her knight guard was not around.
"Your High....", he was shushed by Yeseme, "Sir Jupiter, here I am only Yeseme the adventurer. My knight guard is no longer with me now."
"I understand the circumstances now...Yeseme.", She smiled when Sargon dropped the honorifics. "It is a delight to see you again. How have you been these past months?", He asked.
"I've been okay. Joined an adventuring party for a while until the leader began eyeing me in a disrespectful way if you know what I mean. He already had some female members in grasp too. He was overreaching with me though, I had to leave before I maimed him." Yeseme said all this with a smirk and ended with a chuckle.
"It appears you've been having your fun", Sargon said.
"I have been having fun, but now I'm alone and looking for a new group. Before you say you aren't adventurers, I know that already. I still want to join up with you two though. As a royal, I have listed in the Knight Union as a royal knight, but I can act freely being right now. You have any grand plans in mind right now?", Yeseme asked expectantly.
"As a matter of fact Yeseme, we will be doing a deep incursion into the monster lands since I am ebony level and Pharis is malachite level now. The plan is to fight strong monsters and go into unmapped areas to map them. It will be a 2-week long quest.". he stated.
"Oooooohh, can I come?", Yeseme said turning her slightly with a smile.
After a few moments of deliberation, Sargon and Pharis turned to each other. Pharis smiled and nodded and Sargon smiled back. "We'll be happy to have you along for the quest Yeseme. A dame of your skill and being malachite level from what I can observe, you'll be an excellent addition.", Sargon said brightly.
"Jeez, of course, you could tell what my strength was. I'm not surprised though. Thanks for having me, Sir Sargon.", Yeseme said while going to stand next to Pharis. Sargon was a little taken aback by being addressed by his first name, but he didn't mind it. He grabbed some more supplies for Yeseme and headed out of Fereldyn to their hill home.
"Wow, this is a cool home you've made for yourselves inside this big hill. You two got a name for this place", Yeseme says while looking around the hill home.
"I've never really thought about a name. Pharis, how about you name this place.", he said.
"Okay Master, how about we name our home Knight Burrow!", Pharis said excitedly.
Sargon thought it was simple, but he likes the sound of it. Yeseme visibly liked it too and patted Pharis for a good job. Since the end of the day was coming, they all went to their beds. Yeseme slept with Pharis. Sargon didn't meditate tonight so he can be fully rested for tomorrow.
The next day they went into the monster lands. They journeyed at a good pace for 4 days into the monster lands. They had just entered an area where malachite-level monsters are more common and ebony-level monsters are rare. Any deeper than this area and they would be biting more than they could chew.
The first monsters they encountered of malachite level were a trio of lesser cyclops. A type of giant with one eye. They stood tall at 10 meters and wielded tree trunks as weapons clubs. The three took them down easily enough. Sargon cut the heels to drop them to their knees, Pharis would shoot out the eyes and Yeseme pierced the back of their skulls with her spear.
Sargon could've killed them with little effort himself, but they wanted to build some teamwork. The next malachite monster was a big stone lizard. 3 meters tall and 9 meters long. He was fat and heavily armored bastard. After attacking the gaps the lizard tried to retreat to its cave which was nearby. It never made it to the cave. Luckily they now had a cozy cave to make a temporary base in for their expedition.
The sun was almost setting, so they took the remainder of the day to set up the base in the cave and eat their dinner. Tomorrow, they will truly start their training and hunt for strong opponents.
