บท 16: Arthropods Attack
The giant centipede loomed over me. Its mouth was drooling in anticipation of its next meal, me. Its massive fangs clacked together, yellow venom Was leaking out of each fang. All of its hundreds of legs were sturdy and sharp looking and seemed excellent for digging. "Piss." I said defeated.
It lunged at me face first, baring its needle sharp fangs. I dodged out of the way and the giant thing passed right over me! I saw it disappear into the ground behind me, it Dug right into the floor as smoothly as a fish swimming through water. At first I thought it was running away but then I heard it digging back!
The sound of the Centipede moving though dirt almost sounded like a train chugging. As it got closer it was getting faster and faster. I ready myself to not only doge out of the way but also to strike it with my tail. As it broke the surface I jumped and struck it with my tail. It cried out in pain and quickly Retreated back into the ground. "Time for the most extreme game of whack-a-mole ever!"I quipped.
I focused my attention on my hearing to keep track of the centipede. I braced myself as it got closer and closer, this time it sounded like it was determined to kill me! It popped out of the ground and tried to bite me again. I hit it with my tail, landing a clean hit, But I was caught off guard when it counter-attacked by swinging its back end at me. It managed to land a hit on me and I was staggered by it. It came back to bite me with its fangs but I managed to jump over the attack and accidentally landed on its back.
Before I could process what I just did it started to try and shake me off! I started to hold on for dear life and wrapped my tail around the centipede's body. I decided to get some damage in and started biting the centipede's hard shell. As I sunk my teeth into the insect's shell, bitter and gewy clear blood got into my mouth. If rats could vomit I would.
The Insect let out a shriek of agony and burrowed into the ground taking me with it. It was moving extremely fast and digging in random directions trying to shake me off. It was riding a bull that was pumped full of amphetamines, I had to think of something quick before I lost my grip. Then I got a moment of inspiration, I slowly started inching my way towards the front of the centipede. Bit by bit I got closer and closer, dirt was starting to sting in my eyes. I couldn't see jack shit, I dropped the glow-shroom the moment I started riding the centipede.
I reached for the Centipede's head but instead of giving it a nibble on the neck I grabbed on to its long antennae. The centipede tensed up. I tried something, I yanked the centipede's antenna in one way and the insect followed my command and went in the same direction. I smiled to myself. looks like my luck is turning around!
I pointed its head towards the direction of the surface. It was going extremely fast! "Where are the brakes and this thing!" I said out loud.If I don't slow down there's no telling where I could surface. I tried everything I could think of even biting the centipede but it was only getting faster!
It broke the surface and I got thrown off its back. There was dust everywhere! I heard coughs and people screaming but couldn't see where I was. As the dust started to settle I saw a table and instinctively ran under it to hide. When the dust cleared I saw that I was in the middle of some huge pub! It must have been happy hour or something because the place was packed full of humans!
The Centipede was still alive and causing a commotion. Some humans equipped with weapons and armor started to fight It. I used this distraction to my advantage and tried to quietly leave while no one was looking but I stopped myself when I took a peek outside and saw that it was midday. there were a bunch of people outside and I would get spotted easily.
I looked around for options but the best thing I saw that I could hide in was the ceiling rafters. While the humans were busy during the centipede into sashimi I climbed up walls and into the rafters. A bunch more humans had come into the bar to check out the commotion. I settled down in a corner.
Looks like I'm going to have to wait awhile till I'm able to leave.
