บท 9: Into Motion
2 Days later
"Please put your bag through the scanner sir," The almost mountain-like security guard for K Inc's entrance instructed as Soohyun entered the building. He is let through since Kwangoo had tweaked a few things in the scanning system to make it look like it wasn't Kim Soohyun who went through it. However, it is not Kim Soohyun, instead, it is Lee Byung Joon from Busan looking for a new job in another city.
For the last two days, Soohyun underwent makeover and data planning about his new identity to infiltrate the company to get another one on one session with JiU. Soohyun does admit to it that being the number two biggest company in the world, people from outside the company still find it hard to have an audience with him. It was never a problem when it comes to this until he's the one experiencing it on the other side of the fence.
"Lee Byung Joon-ssi, you may pass," Soohyun who's not used to being called that name stays dormant looking at the ground. "Lee Byung Joon-ssi, you may pass," the Security guard repeats his words.
"Who?" Soohyun was too unfamiliar with the predicament that he even forgot it was his alias.
"You're Byung Joon- ssi right?" The security guard shows him his citizenship ID until Soohyun snapped into realization.
"Oh yeah, yeah sorry," he rubbed the back of his head in an attempt to look nervous, "First-day jitters."
"Yeah sure, please get a move on and proceed to the right and you'll be guided to meet Ms. Tiffany," he gestured to the elevator on the far side of the lobby, "Go to the 20th Floor."
Soohyun bowed and smiled sheepishly towards the security guard like he is supposed to be, even when it goes against his better nature. He scanned the lobby and was awed for sure with the amazing interior design of the building. However, the sightseeing had to stop since there are more pressing matters to attend to. He entered the elevator and pressed the 30th floor, and he recited all that he needs for the interview with the HR of the company. But what he finds out after reaching his floor is a whole different matter.
"Good morning, you must be Mr. Byung Joon," to greet him right in from of the elevator is Tiffany, the company's second in command, "Will you please follow me to my office?" She gestured with her hand with a sweet smile plastered on her face. Soohyun had seen her when her boss visited their company but he didn't realize how gorgeous she is up close. All he could do was nod and follow her. Again he scanned through the office and find out how neat and tidy it is.
"You seeing this, Gray?" Soohyun whispered to a mouthpiece placed on the collar of his shirt, "We seriously need to get out employees this clean and neat, not that they aren't it's just wow here."
"Sorry?" Tiffany looked back as they walked on.
"Oh...oh... Umm, this area of work is very neat and clean," Soohyun tried to sound casual after probably sounding a little too loud when talking to Gray through the mouthpiece.
"Ah well... Ms. JiU likes things to be neat and tidy since she believes it's one of the factors to a successful company no matter how trivial it might be to some people," She explained while looking around the floor of the building, "And please this way, but before anything else, I'd like to show you that door," she pointed at a two-door office, "That office belongs to the boss, Miss JiU."
They've arrived right in front of her office. She entered first then gestured him to go in the next, "Please, take a seat," she smiled and appoints him the chair across her desk. One thing obvious is that her whole office is decorated mostly in pink color that Soohyun feels slightly uncomfortable about his manliness seeing all the pink around, "So I checked your resume, and I am quite impressed with it."
"Thank you miss, that's quite a compliment," Soohyun smiled and felt proud of his team for constructing such an impressive one.
"So you worked as a vet assistant for two years in Busan?" Tiffany's question wiped the smile off his face as immediately as it had appeared seconds ago.
"N...neh?" Soohyun's face is filled with both confusion and growing rage for his team.
"Yeah.. it says here you saved a dog's life by applying CPR," her face is the complete opposite of Soohyun's since she is showing real interest in his made-up resume.
"Ye..ah it was a tough task helping the cat," Soohyun slipped his tongue then noticed his mistake fast enough to correct it, "I mean the dog was different from humans so it was quite the task, but all is okay."
"You have quite a noble spirit the Byung Joon-ssi," Tiffany smiled at him briefly before continuing to read his fake resume, "You're quite the volunteer too, I see. I mean, helping the elderly for 6 months in retirement homes is very noble."
"Ye..yeah they are very nice old people, I mean very nice people," he chuckled nervously as his fumes started to get riled up.
"Other than that your work ethics and efficiency are very well," Tiffany then closed his resume to stretch her hand towards him, "Welcome to K Inc."
"Ah oh thank you," Soohyun bowed his head as he takes her hand to give it a gentle and firm handshake.
"So when can you start?" Tiffany smiled at him.
"I can start as soon as possible," He nods with an equal smile. His plan is going very well so far, now all he needs now is to find a way to get a face to face moment with their boss.
"Splendid," she reached for her office phone and pressed a button, "Yoona, ready your team."
"Neh, Miss Secretary," another voice replied immediately at the end of the phone.
"Alright, Byung Joon-ssi," Tiffany stands from her seat to which Soohyun mirrored almost immediately, "We'll be heading to the 15th floor, now."
The moment she mentioned the 15th floor, Soohyun starts to feel uneasy. Things will be made harder if his base would be far away from JiU. His whole plan would need major tweaks to make this work. "Ah.. neh," he only nodded and trying his best to mask his disappointed look with a smile. If he chose to protest, things would look awkward and he might blow his chance sooner than wanted.
Soohyun could only look at JiU's office door from afar as he walks along with Tiffany. Even as they entered the elevator, he still kept his eyes glued on the door. "Byung Joo-ssi?" Tiffany's call made snapped him away from his train of thoughts.
"Yes, ma'am?" Soohyun almost reluctantly looked at her to listen to whatever she has to say, he is still hoping that there will be a change of heart so his plan will go smoothly and he can get rid of this disguise as soon as possible. A hair in a short bowl style, with prosthetic nose to make his nose slightly pointier than his very own and his chin made to look a little wider than his original one plus the black colored frame pair glasses to complete the disguise. Although the result isn't much to his liking since it shades his usual lady-killer charm.
"Since your resume is quite impressive," Tiffany elaborated, "Ms. JiU and I have agreed to put you as the lead for our new marketing team for our new product," the moment she started explaining, Soohyun has his heart sinking through the elevator, "And with your expertise, I am sure you will do amazing on this pilot project," even more so as he listens to her.
Even though the trip down to the 15th floor wasn't that long due to the fast speed of the elevator, Soohyun felt like it was the longest elevator ride he'd ever had. His planning, that was thought simple, isn't going as smooth as he thought since it will be taking a slight long 15 floors different. His mind starts trying to think of the alternatives that might be done but none seem to come to mind.
The 15th floor isn't like the 30th floor at all since there are mostly empty rooms and only a few filled with people. Soohyun scanned through the floor. As he was looking around to notice that not much are here on this floor, they finally stopped in front of a two-door office room, "Here we are Byung Joon-ssi," Tiffany stopped in front of the door and once again that gorgeous smile plastered on his face. In his mind, Soohyun couldn't help but think about the chance he might have when his face isn't the way that it is.
Tiffany opens the door to welcome quite a large room with 7 cubicles located in the center and one big table slightly farther back away from the cubicles, "Please, come in," Tiffany gestured him to go inside first and the moment he goes inside, a loud burst blew up the silence in the room. At least 4 confetti are popped open and emerged 7 people from the side of the room to greet both Tiffany and Soohyun.
"Welcome Team Leader-nim!" the exact same writing is placed on the banner as the two tallest men from the team carried it from the back.
"Byung Joon-ssi, meet your team," Tiffany clapped her hands with joy as she gestured to the team of 7 people. And Soohyun could respond was a forced smile as he sees his team, they are all very young.
