บท 13: BSWS CH-13 Land of Waves Mission
A few days after Team 7 had completed the Tora cat mission, they assembled at the mission center as usual for their mission. However this time Kakashi and Hokage had a surprise for them. It seemed that Kakashi had judged them to be well trained now and ready for an upgrade in mission quality. Hence, they were being assigned a C Rank mission.
"Really old man? What is the mission we will be getting?" Naruto asked excitedly.
"You will be participating in an escort mission. The Target has to be guided safely to their destination. You will be his bodyguards." Lord Third said.
"Yay!! Is it some Princess? Or a Noble?" Naruto asked excitedly.
"You will see shortly." Lord Third said as he gestured to let the guest in. When he came in, Naruto's face looked like his dreams had shattered. Their target was an old man in cheap clothing, stinking of booze. He was still drinking heavily while observing the three children in front of him.
"I asked for Ninja and you give me a bunch of snot-nosed brats?" he slurred "and you expect me to believe that the little one with the idiotic expression is actually a Ninja?"
Naruto went into a fit of rage when he realized the old man was insulting him. After Sakura and Kakashi calmed him down the old man continued.
"My name is Tazuna. I am a Bridge Builder from the Land of Waves, which is where you will be escorting me to. I am building a bridge that is going to revolutionize this world. And if we face any trouble on the way there, I expect you to give your lives to save mine." Tazuna slurred while leaning on the wall.

They all made their preparations and got ready to leave in half a day. Sakura made sure she took all required Ninja tools with her and even took some Fuinjutsu supplies.
They assembled at the gates to the leaf village and departed for the Land of the Waves. On the way Tazuna and Naruto got into verbal arguments often, but Sakura and Kakashi kept it from going beyond that.
After they had travelled for a few hours, they reached a lonely road through the forest. Sakura grew cautious on seeing this as she felt this was where the ambush of the demon brothers had taken place.
She secretly activated her chakra sensing abilities and spread her chakra far and wide. As expected, she found a puddle made with dense chakra in the middle of the road. But that was not the alarming part as she already expected it. The alarming part was that she sensed two more chakra signatures of decent strength 10 meters away in the forest.
'Hold on, demon brothers are only two ninjas. So who are the other two?' Sakura thought.
Alarmed by it, she took out a piece of scroll a swiftly wrote on it. Then she slowly moved next to Kakashi and passed the piece of the scroll to him before walking slightly ahead.
Taking advantage of the discreet cover Sakura gave him, Kakashi took a glance at the piece of scroll. His eyes widened momentarily at the message before he used a hint of fire chakra to burn the scroll and scatter the ashes in his wake.
They walked forward and right as they were passing the puddle of water, two ninjas in weird masks jumped out of the puddle. Taking advantage of the surprise, they wasted no time and attacked Kakashi.
Kakashi was also taken by surprise apparently and was pierced through by their claw weapons, killing him instantly. They didn't waste any time and turned to the little brats accompanying the bridge builder.
They first attacked the yellow-haired brat closest to them. He was shaking so much that he could not even think of escaping before they ripped his throat out.
Next was the black-haired kid who tried to defend with a Kunai. But they attacked with a bunch of Shuriken that pierced through his vitals, making him fall down.
The Kunoichi was a cute one, but they had orders hence they could not keep her for some fun later. She followed the fate of the blond kid.
Finally, they walked towards their target, the old bridge builder. His fright showed clearly on his face while he backed away.
They laughed creepily as they came closer. Seeing the old man so afraid, they decided to scare him further.
"Gato is really not pleased with you old man. Did you try to bring another ninja into your business? Now your entire village will pay the price. You have a daughter, don't you? I heard she is a beauty. Probably we will give her a visit once we are done with you."
Hearing that, the bridge builder suddenly stopped shaking, "Hmm, that will be possible only when you manage to go back won't it?"
Before both of them could understand, the bridge builder rushed forth with incredible speed. He struck out with his palm to their chest, sending them flying back with a sealing tag each on their chest.
Making a hand sign, the bridge builder shouted 'Seal!'. The next moment the two of them found themselves paralyzed along with their access to their chakra cut off.
"How??" they called out weakly from the ground. They saw the bridge builder shimmer and transform into the Kunoichi they had just killed. Meanwhile, the other corpses on the ground faded away too. They then realized that they had been put into a Genjutsu all this time.
"Nicely done Sakura!" Kakashi called out as he emerged from the trees along with Naruto and Sasuke. Naruto and Sasuke carried two other rogue ninja with them on their shoulders like sacks of rice. Apparently, they had finished dealing with them too. Behind them came Tazuna, who was shaking slightly seeing all these Ninjas who came to kill them.
Once Sasuke and Naruto dropped the other two along with the ones Sakura had defeated, Sakura put the seals on these two rogues ninja also, sealing them just like the ones she had defeated. After that was done, she observed that they were both from the hidden mist too, just like the Demon brothers that she had defeated.
'So Zabuza is more serious this time? He sent additional backup to attack us if we defeated the demon brothers? Or were they there in the original timeline too, watching over the demon brothers and reporting to Zabuza when they failed? If it's the second case then we are fine, if it is the first one then there might be changes in the timeline that I don't know of.' Sakura made plans in her mind for the future.
