บท 142: Not Enough Time

The three horses kept up their rapid pace. They were all alone when the rubble road went to dirt, and the outskirts of Giza became grassland. The clouds in the night sky hid the moon.

Snow began to fall as they pressed onward. At first, there were only a few scattered specks in the dark. After a while, a thin white coating obscured everything.

The pace slowed as they got further away from civilization. The hooves of Hope's horse stepped right in the spot left in the snow by Ayala's mare. Drake's black stallion led the convoy, maintaining complete silence.

Hope was hesitant to leave his side at first. That was why she didn't like his idea. He persuaded her that this was the best plan for keeping the queen safe. She yielded when he urged her to come up with a better solution.
