Seeing Yakov was still sulking, William shook his head. When Gloria first took out the walkie talkie, he was already a bit confused. After all, there was never any need for them to use it.
However, when he thought about it again, he realized that she had already thought that they wouldn't be able to communicate with using telephone anymore. Since walkie talkie was using radio wave and have transmitter and receiver on the device, they would be easier to use compared to phone or even internet. After all, the latter would need to have the tower and cable.
Since she had thought of using walkie talking, William though that Gloria might bring more than one. That was why he tried to contact her and realized that it was correct. She could hear him loud and clear, which mean she had indeed prepared more than one walkie talkie and had set it to the right frequencies.
"When it comes to technology that we'll need, Gloria will be the first one to think of one," William said.
Yakov clicked his tongue. "Just say that I'm stupid for only thinking about food and weapons."
William: "…" he could say the same for himself, though.
Well, he did think of bringing some common medicine aside from food and weapons. After all, he didn't know what they might need when they were outside. The necessary equipment that he usually brought in the military only required them to bring food, medicine, rope, and weapon.
As for the communicating device… since it was always with him, he forgot that he didn't bring his back then.
"It'll be good if we can use our handphone."
"The cables are already destroyed. Besides, I don't think setting cables alone is enough," William replied. He didn't have much knowledge in terms of this matter since he didn't pay much attention back then. However, he knew that setting up cables alone might not be enough to allow them use internet and calling.
Yakov groaned but didn't say anything else. He picked up the last boxes and pointed to the door. "I don't think there's anything more that we can get from here."
"It'll be better if we have flashlight with us," William commented.
"Didn't you bring some?"
"I didn't."
"…" you're the same with me, forgot about that.
William looked at his walkie talkie. For some reason, he had the feeling that Gloria might have flashlight with her when she took some items from the mall back then. However, he needed to ask her for confirmation later.
"Let's head to the police station then return back first. Afterwards, we can have a visit to the mall near that construction building."
Yakov nodded. "That's not a bad idea."
"Let's go."
It didn't take long for William and Yakov to head over to the next police station. But this time, they had to kill a lot of Xermo that was roaming around in the area. Even though they didn't plan to take a long time, the process ended up taking much more time than they expected before they could return back.
When they came back, Rozan was the one opening the door for them since he was resting. He looked at the car they used. "Someone left the car open?"
"We take it," William replied. He glanced to the camping bus. "Is there enough space for more weapons?"
"There's enough space. The girls somehow managed to make enough space there after stuffing most of the food on the box near the bed," Rozan replied. There was a space between the bed and the small kitchen along with the bathroom. It was originally a space for another bedding but since they were only 5 people, they didn't need it yet.
Gloria and Sienna walked out from the camping bus. They were munching on some biscuits that they opened not long ago.
William nodded. "We'll be going out again soon."
"Again?" Sienna asked in surprise. She glanced at the boxes that Yakov brought out and gasped in surprise. "There are so many guns!"
"Pick the one you want."
Gloria bent down and took a small handgun. She didn't have remarkable physical strength, so she would rather use the small one like this. At the very least, this one didn't have that much impact force compared with the others.
"Gloria."
"Yes?"
"Do you have flashlight?"
"I do," Gloria replied calmly as she picked up the gun. She tilted her head. "Do you need one?"
William nodded. If only he knew that she was actually keeping flashlight with her, he would have asked for one before their departure. But who would have thought that the police station would be that dark, which made it hard for them to see everything inside?
Beside him, Yakov was not in better condition. He wanted to cry when he thought of their effort to search in dark before. And with a flashlight, the fight with that Mutated Bone Xermo would have been much easier.
He regretted not asking her before.
William coughed. "What did you bring with you inside your bag?"
"Walkie talkie, laptop, cable, pliers, battery of several sizes, some electrical components, multimeter,* rope, flashlight, book…."
(A/N: *Multimeter is an instrument that was designed to measure electrical current, voltage, and reluctance over several range of value)
As Gloria began to list down what she brought, even William was speechless. It was only then he recalled she was going back from her university when they met. It meant that there were actually some components that she was actually using for her project.
If not, that wouldn't explain why she would be bringing multimeter around....
Normal people wouldn't want to bring something like that with them because they wouldn't use it in normal times.
William turned his head to look at Sienna. "I believe that you also have a lot of items inside your small bag?"
"Well, aside from my wallet, I also bring a syringe, needles, a few bottles of medicines…" Sienna started to explain what she brought inside her bag.
Behind William, Yakov felt that there was not even a single one of them who was normal here. Even though it was all their previous occupation, why would they still bring it around when they no longer need it?
He couldn't understand.
