Regina cocked her head to the side and examined him with new eyes. "I told you I loved you."
The emotion entered her voice without any warning. She felt the words burn all the way out. Her eyes watered with tears that emerged from nowhere and she felt the excruciating pain all over again. "And you said you did not feel the same way. That was when I understood you were never mine. That's when I understood the true nature of our relationship. So, no. Paul, I do not give a damn if you sleep with anyone."
"I am going back to my apartment." Regina grabbed her bag from the couch.
Paul leaned against the wall with his arms across his chest. "Why?"
"There is no point in me staying here."
He slowly walked to me and pulled the backpack out of her hand. "I disagree."
She extended her hand. "I do not care."
