บท 207: RIP Minister Wei

Wang Jingyuan explained to Xiao Moxian of how she got into this mess: just passing by and noticing the Ministry's front doors were ajar, trying to investigate but was mistaken as the intruder, and bumping into Yan Qiufeng. She did not mention that she thought he was in danger. Knowing him, Xiao Moxian would feel bad that she put herself in danger for him, and she did not want to guilt trip him.

"We thought that the intruders were likely after the most important person in the ministry, which would be Minister Wei. It was unfortunate that we did not arrive in time to save him." Wang Jingyuan finished.

Xiao Moxian nodded slowly. Knowing her, he did not find it odd that she would investigate something that had nothing to do with her. Still, he wished that she had stayed out of this mess—since everyone saw her at the crime scene, there would be some suspicion on her, no matter what he said. There will be some extra aftermath to deal with, but it's fine.
