บท 90: Queen Wyvern? So What?

What do you do when confronted with a huge ass wyvern? Run? She can fly. Fight? That sounds dangerous. Beg for mercy? Not my style. Throw her a bone? Maybe later. All these are valid options. But no, I choose the hidden one! Be chill.

[So, what were you doing down there? Holding your breath?]

"Human do you believe me to be a joke?!"

[No?]

"Do you believe I can tear you apart in the blink of an eye!?"

[Also no.]

"…"

[I mean let's not even start with the whole tearing apart thing. Do you know how fast one can blink?]

The creature looks to be at a loss.

[Where is this place anyway?]

"You intruded upon my territory thoughtlessly and you don't even know where this is!"

[I know where it is in relation to where I'm from. You know just making conversation.]

"You dare speak of conversation after all the slaughters you have committed!"

Now that I think about it, did the wyverns at the beginning attack based on her orders?

[Meh, they rushed at me like idiots. You really should teach them better.]

"How dare you! I will crush you until only dust remain!"

She takes a step back. Half the battle is won already. Now for the last push. I grin mysteriously.

[Oh? Tell me oh wise wyvern. Can you feel how fast my heartbeat is going?]

"Of course I can hear…. There is none!"

Now if it seems like I am backing down she may reconsider it later. I don't want that. Fighting a boss head front is one thing. Getting ambushed by one is another.

[How about it? Should we fight?]

"That…"

[I'll be generous. I'll make the end impactful enough so that it won't feel unfair to you. How about it?]

"That…how about we have a discussion like civilized beings…"

I approach my hand towards her giant head.

"Human what are you doing?!"

[Petting.]

"Stop this at once! I am proud and untainted!"

[Grilled lizard, I actually know a nice recipe for that.]

[First, you put some rocks in a fire.]

She is intently listening. Good.

[Then once the rocks are burning hot you remove them from there.]

She is clearly picturing it along.

[Then you slice the flesh into very thin stripes and lay it on the rocks.]

I can see her tail trembling.

[Now this may seem easy, but the hardest part starts. You want to cook it to perfection. Enough for it to be tasty, yet not too much so it becomes dry.]

She is staring in disbelief.

[In the end, you get a tasty, delicious barbecue. You should try it someday.]

She shakes her head.

"You! You're bluffing!"

I lazily stretch, then I slowly get into the water.

"Hey, this is my pond! Mine!"

[Sure, should we fight for it?]

I am nonchalantly answering her. The less I put her in my eyes the more she will believe that I am strong. So I just start floating in the middle of it. Calmly and without a worry in the world. Well, at least that's what it looks like.

I gotta stay ready to defend myself in case she does try something. The only thing I need to be careful of is…

*SWIPE*

*CRASH*

A tail swipe. Not even aimed at me. She is just bashing the ground violently. Eying me from the corner of her eye. Trying to gauge my reaction. Had I flinched she would have seen it as a sign of weakness.

This is so much BS. Why can't an all-powerful entity be jumpy? It would mess with the cool archetype, but it could be logical. After all not all our fears are rational. For instance, people fear tiny bugs that they can end with one stomp.

Is it me or while I'm lost in thoughts that wyvern has been making faces at me? Probably my imagination.

Anyway, floating here is nice. I can see the clear sky. I can see wyverns flying all around. This is oddly therapeutic. To simply watch nature. I feel extremely tiny right now. Compared to this world.

Yet at the same time, I can feel all the surrounding plants. It gives me a sense of completeness. As if I am not human anymore. Truly and simply, just existing in the moment.

Somehow right now I am truly glad to be experiencing this. My past life was peaceful and hectic. In this one, I have already killed and yet it seems more relaxing. Truly surprising.

I guess morality has nothing to do with inner peace. I maybe am a sinner, but I don't care. I killed some wyverns because I wanted to. That shall be justification enough. Seriously looking at these wyverns flying is so peaceful.

Sooo peaceful…
