บท 25: 57th Expedition(3)
(Levi POV)
A crystal-like structure with a faint-blue glow covered the nape as the smoke cleared from Levi's onslaught.
Realization nipped at him. He had fallen into a trap.
Once the attack had finished, Levi slid out a new pair of blades and sent the swords across his body in two deadly arcs. Steel sank against flesh, severing the fingers of the gigantic hands that approached as jets of red erupted.
"Tch."Levi sprang away from the titan's neck. The muscles in his jaw ticked. Blood had sullied his uniform and skin.
"Heichou!" Petra rushed towards him, the other members followed her close behind.
"The Female Titan can harden her nape, our swords can't pierce through." He shook his head.
"W-what? Wouldn't that mean killing her is impossible?"
"Impossible with blades."Levi corrected and whistled for his horse ."But we can try to disable her movements. The rest is up to Eren and Mikasa now."
He looked on at the Female Titan sprinting into the forest. Levi hoped that the lives that had been lost were not for nothing.

(Mikasa POV)
Mikasa glanced behind at the towering trees, dim sunlight peeked at them through the canopy of green from a darkened sky ."Footsteps," she said amid the sound of galloping hooves and hum of cicadas ."Eren, something is coming."
"Already? There's still some distance to cover." Eren chewed his lip."We need more time…"
Mikasa rode forward beside Eren in silence, studying his face. She knew he was hiding something from her. Eren had told her before of the danger this expedition posed to his life but refused to say her anything further.
"Eren, what's the matter?"
"Mikasa. I need you to do something." He looked at her ."Slow down whoever is coming."
"Why? Shouldn't we kill it instead?"
"There's no time to explain. It's part of Erwin's plan."
Mikasa paused for a moment before she nodded."I trust you … Eren."
"But if it gets too dangerous, I'll kill the titan ."She continued, her voice stern."I won't risk putting you in danger."
"Alright. S-Stay safe, Mikasa. Don't overdo yourself ." He replied in a soft tone, one that Mikasa hadn't heard him speak in before towards her. Those words melted her heart.
"The titan, she's here!" Eren's voice knocked her out of her thoughts.
Mikasa's attention now turned to a gigantic figure sprinting towards them from behind. The Female Titan's shoulders snapped the broad branches that blocked her path, every step sending a tremor through the ground as their bodies swayed.
"I won't let you get near Eren,"Mikasa said as she took off from her horse, and landed on a huge tree branch overhead.
She glared at the titan with murderous intent, and aimed, and sprang, and then slashed. Sharp steel plowed through titan flesh from the shoulder to the chest, the chest to the stomach, and the stomach to the thigh, leaving a trail of blood to mark its passage.
Dodging a hand that tried to grab her, she moved behind the Female Titan and sent a cut through her back. The swords tore at the skin, again and again. Left, right, downwards, her grip tightened with each blow, causing the attacks to sink deeper, harder, and even deeper. An arm reached right for her amidst the shower of red ...
… but grabbed only air. Mikasa leaped away, spinning her body. The fist missed but her blades wouldn't. They pierced the arm behind it in a binding fury, cleaving through flesh and more flesh. Her swords ripped and tore, hacked and slashed, tearing out huge chunks of red meat with every strike. She gave the blades another vicious twist before yanking it out. Crimson sprayed out from the wound in all directions. Mikasa felt the hot, smelly spray of blood on her face as she flew away to catch her breath.
"Mikasa! Just a bit more! " Eren's voice sounded out, barely audible amidst the collapsing woods and heavy footsteps.
A flare fired immediately after, emitting a screech that deafened her ears.
Mikasa glanced at Eren. She wanted to protect him, to keep him safe. As long as he was by her side, she could do anything.
Once the noise that came from the round faded, she continued to rain steel upon the titan. Mikasa flew from tree to tree, her blades streaked across the legs of the Female Titan, carving red lines one after another onto them.
Darting another punch, she pressed the attack at a different spot. Her blades whirled in the air and delivered a vicious downcut that left the Female Titan one ear less . Blood fountained and deepened the crimson stains on her uniform.
"If that thing gets any closer to Eren, I'll kill her," Mikasa muttered. Her body tensed up as she released the broken steel from her shaking hand grips. "No matter where the titan goes, I will make sure she dies the most painful death. For daring to harm Eren."
With a snarl, she drew a new pair of swords and fired her hooks. The two blades cut away, tearing at the titan's waist as she flew past it. Mikasa's weapons continued the relentless assault, slicing a dozen more times until the steel broke. She then retreated and latched onto a tree.
The Female Titan was still closing in on Eren, despite being slowed by the wounds she inflicted.
Mikasa took in a sharp breath and fixed her gaze on the nape. Worry had twisted her gut into a tight knot, she wouldn't allow Eren to be in danger any longer.
Just as her fingers were about to squeeze the triggers, she eyed someone standing atop an enormous tree branch.
It was Commander Erwin.
"FIRE!" The man roared and thrusted his sword towards the Female Titan.
She heard booming sounds reverberate throughout the forest ...
A/N: Almost 1k words , 2nd chapter of the week. I might not be able to stick to my schedule for next week . Action scenes are so hard to write.
To blame also are the extra 8 panel leaks for vol 34 of aot . The feeling ... T_T
