บท 223: Chapter 223: Pay to Play

'Mother is acting weird.' 

The young Gu Yan thought as he wriggled impatiently on the back seat of the black Mersedes van. Unlike the usual, Gu Yan felt that his mother was more temperamental as of late. 

'Mother gets mad so easily. She even shouts at me.' Gu Yan pouted. 

Unbeknownst to the child, they were actually on the run from the authorities.

"Arrrgh! I knew I should've gotten rid of him with Lu Ying! Why are your people so useless?!" Song Rui screeched to someone on the phone.

"Send your best men. I don't care how much it costs. I want that bastard and that bitch's heads!"

''Mom. Mom. Mom." A milky voice beside Song Rui called out.

"What?!" The woman all but bellowed.

"Mommy, I want ice cream…." The child whined.

"Later."

"You said I can get ice cream." Gu Yan repeated.

"Later."

"No! I want it now!" 

The little boy yelled in complaint only to be met with a resounding slap in the face.
