“My office’s window opens in the back garden of the school. My classroom is right next to Ryan’s office. You think I didn’t notice anything?” She crossed her arms.
“Why didn’t you tell anyone?” I asked, still very much startled.
“Because I went through same. I’m not romanticizing something that’s illegal but love only takes a second to sow a seed in your heart. One kind gesture of someone is enough to make you fall in love with them. So, to kids like you and I, who were bullied, we needed just one extended hand of support and care. So, I didn’t tell anyone because I thought that even if it was illegal, you guys would make it legal.”
“Did you make it legal? You and your math teacher?” I inquired.
“The day he told me about his feelings was the last day he taught there as my teacher. He resigned the next day and legalized our relationship.” She smiled at me.
