A few months later Amy had told him she was pregnant, he knew her life would be in danger. That was why he tried to eliminate the child. He loved her maybe not as much as he loved pleasing his father.
He knew his father was dangerous. Amy didn't know the kind of business he was into but she suspected it was something dangerous but she never thought it'd be drugs or something that involved killing people.
Rudolph had been shot in the chest by a rival gang on his way to deliver a product.
He had lost a lot of blood and the bullet had caused a laceration in his heart.
The sound of the cardiac monitor beeped periodically. He had been admitted to one of the biggest hospitals in the city. He had to undergo major surgery but he needed a bone marrow transplant.
The doctors had searched for a donor match but it wasn't forthcoming.
They had managed to stabilise Rudolph. He could talk but he had to rely on several machines for the rest of his activities.
Perhaps this was the time to let his father know about his child.
This might be the only chance to save his life
He had sent someone to gather intel on Amy all this while. He monitored her. He knew she was just a victim of circumstances and didn't deserve to suffer. He had sent various people to create opportunities for her so she could fend for herself and her son.
Now he needed his son's bone marrow and could no longer keep it a secret.
Rudolph removed his oxygen mask
"Father," he said weakly lying in the hospital ICU
"I have a son"
The shock in his fathers face could be seen from 2 miles away.
" How? when? Where" he stammered
The college student I was dating got pregnant, we need to find her. My son would be a perfect match for the bone marrow transplant.
Amy had long moved on with her life and she was determined to raise her son responsibly. She didn't want him to know anything about his father.
She had been unaware of how dangerous Rudolph was.
She had just finished preparing Hayden for school one morning when she heard a slight knock on the door.
This was quite unusual since she wasn't expecting anyone and barely knew anyone in City C. She thought it was probably one of her neighbours she opened the door and saw two hefty bodyguards with a black Lamborghini. Her heart skipped a beat.
She wasn't familiar with any wealthy person. How could she have such a visitor? She thought to herself.
Finally one of them spoke up.
" Good day miss."
"Good day," she responded unsure of how to act as used her eyes to scan the quickest route of escape.
She had sent Hayden to his room. She was scared but that was the last vibe she wanted to give off.
"Are you miss Amy Rice?"
"Yes, Is there a problem?" She asked with a puzzled look on her face.
"Mr Rudolph Esteban sent for you and your son."
"Rudolph?!, how did he know I have a son, how did he even know how to find me?."
She had moved hundreds of miles away from her family and everything to start a new life and here she was even tracked by Rudolph like all she did made no difference.
He continued, he is in the ICU and needs a bone marrow transplant. His son
"Excuse me sir, but 'MY SON' " she retorted raising her voice interrupting him.
"Sorry ma'am your son is the only hope he has to survive"
She laughed bitterly, "He has no business with my son, no right whatsoever, he never wanted him and now, he needs his line marrow. Tell Rudolph he can die and go six feet under for all I care. I will go nowhere and if he ever tries to contact I'll be dealing with the police, now get out."
She perceived the hesitation from them
She yelled once again "get out".
This time around her anger had the best of her, she was panting heavily, teary-eyed.
It reminded her of all she had to deal with alone and now he needed help.
A part of her didn't want him to die. But the fact that he didn't even try to fight for their love, to fight for his child was something she wasn't going to let go of easily.
She brought Hayden out of his room and took him to school. Her son was already 6 years old and she loved him more than anything in the world. She wasn't going to risk his life for that of his useless father that couldn't care less if she lived or died. After all these years he wanted them in his life and for selfish reasons.
She decided to go back home to rest and work on her novel. She had ventured into writing.
She stopped by the grocery store to pick up a few things she'd use to prepare lunch for her son.
She met an elderly man in his 50's perhaps in front of her house. He was putting on a grey coloured suit and a brown shoe with a matching brown belt. She felt his face was familiar but she had never met him before.
She had had too many surprises for one day
She slowly walked towards the door reaching out for her pepper spray.
One look at him and she could tell he was wealthy but dangerous
"Who are you?" She asked with a shaky voice
