บท 22: 20: looks vs. mind
SAM'S POV
The moment I heard the 'ding' sounded, I quickly got out of the lift then headed to the secretary's office, ignoring those receptionists again. I was just about to push open the door when the other door beside me suddenly opened and then the laughing Liam appeared.
"Bye, Cameron boy! Say hi---Sam!" He exclaimed with surprised look in his eyes nang makita nya 'ko. Causing me to alarmingly turn to the two receptionists na agad namang tumingin sa'kin with malicious eyes.
Probably wodering why this idiot had just called me in my first name. Oh no. Hindi nila dapat malaman na kilala ko ang gagong 'to!
"Kumusta na ang case---"
"Konnichi wa, sir!"
Oh yeah shit, in a matter of second, naging japanese na'ko! And I couldn't think any more better idea but to do that.
He suddenly stopped saka tumingin sa'kin like I had gone out of my mind. But after he recovered from his shock, he chuckled..
I resisted the urge to slap my forehead with how insensitive he was. With clenched teeth, I tried to talk to him with my eyes to shut his bloody mouth! Pero kahit halos lumuwa na ang mga mata ko in trying to talk to him with my eyes, the idiot just continued chuckling.
"Oh no...Now you're in a Japanese mood? Konnichi wa din! Anyare ba sa'yo sammy-san?" He said with a bow.
Oh my God! My eyes rolled upward while sighing in exasperation when he happily answered that, trying so hard to sound like a japenese.
This asshole!
"Kekelbuhin telege kete 'peg deke pe telege tetegel.."
When he heard me said that like a pig with pouty lips, mas lalo pang tumawa ang gago while clapping his hands in amusement.
Oh God. This idiot would really going to give me a migrane!
"Oh God, Samantha! Nakakatawa ang mukha mo!" Then he laughed again. Dahilan para mas lalo pang tumindi ang tinginan ng dalawang echuserang palaka sa kabila.
Though I really want to beat him now until he turned to a darn gelatin, I think mas mabuti ng umalis na'ko rito, A.S.A.P before this idiot reveal my cover!
"Sir,---"
"Ms. Javier?"
I felt like a prick was suddenly pulled out from me when I heard Mr. Del Fuero's voice behind Liam, quite thankful for hhis inerruption for the first time. Agad na'kong lumapit rito, desperate to get out from my damn situation.
"Yes sir? Do you need anything from me sir?"
"Come here, I have something to ask you. And Liam?"
The idiot turned to us while still laughing silently but then he stopped when he was met by the murderous glare of his friend.
"You too. Follow me." He ordered saka tumalikod na.
Liam then looked at me with puzzlement in his eyes.
"May Mali ba'kong nagawa?"
I just shook my head while looking at him with a 'what-do-you-think-idiot' look bago ako pumasok sa office ni Mr. Del Fuero, agad naman itong sumunod after a few seconds when he hadn't received any answers, closing the door on his way.
Mr. del Fuero sat on his chair with his clasped hands on the table while sending Liam his famous hard look. I just stood near his desk with crossed arms, doing the same as he, murdering the idiot Liam with our dagger look.
Liam just looked at us with cautious eyes as he slowly walked towards us.
"Guys, can you please quit with that look on your faces now? Hindi ko gusto 'yang mga tingin nyo sa'kin ngayon.."
My brow just shot up habang nakatingin parin sa kanya like I've already castrating him in my mind.
If not with Mr. Del Fuero's interruption, buking na sana ako dahil sa gagong Liam na'to.
"At kung hindi mo lang sana halos ipinaalam sa lahat that Ms. Javier is my P.I, I wouldn't have thought about killing you this instant."
His brows swiftly creased in confusion when Mr. Del Fuero said that.
"And what about it then? Nagtatrabaho naman talaga siya sa'yo, Cam so ano--"
"As my pretend assistant secretary, Liam and nothing else. And no one should know about that other than us." I snapped at him in between with gritted teeth. Causing him swallowed hard while trying to find some answers in our faces.
Pero after a while of his silence, agad naman itong tumango-tango with understanding look on his face.
"Oh... Yeah right. Now I understand kung bakit parang bigla ka nalang naging alien, Sam." And then he's back to just laughing in amusement.
"Will you shut up now, Liam? Hindi mo naman siguro gustong umalis dito with your cracked balls in your hand, right?"
That made him shut his mouth then swallowed hard again with his adam's apple bobbed.
"Y-You're just kidding right?"
"Do I look like I am, Liam?"
I heard Mr. Del Fuero cleared his throat sa tabi ko, causing him to throw an icy glare at him but then nodded at me anyway. Probably scared to lose his family jewel.
As if that worth a treasure..
"T-Then I think mas mabuting umalis na'ko ngayon din. I-I forgot na may meeting pa pala ako, Yes! A meeting it is! Bye!" palusot pa nnito, sounding like he was convincing himself saka agad ng tumalikod and rushed to the door like some rabid dog was on his heels na anytime pwedeng lumapa sa pwet nito.
I inwardly smirked with that thought, amused with his lame excuse. I just shook my head and followed him with my eyes.
When he was out of sight, I was interrupted with another clearing of throat.
Sighing, I turned to him and found him already looking at me with his usual businesslike face.
I wonder what had gotten with him to suddenly turn like that when I know kaya pa nitong gawing bato ang pagmumukha nito.
"By the way, Ms. Javier.. May appointment ako ngayon with the potential investor--"
"At ano naman ngayon if you have? Following you like a darn dog isn't part of my job so just go on your own."
Agad na dumilim ang mukha nya with his jaw kept twitching.
Obviously annoyed with me. Tsk, tskk.. Such an uplifting reaction.
"Pwede bang patapusin mo muna ako before you voice out your stupid opinion, Ms. Javier?"
My brow shot up at the mention of 'stupid' with my lips pursed tightly.
This bastard!
"And why don't you state your 'stupid' business in a direct way then, Mr. Del Fuero?"
His face darkened more when I said that.
"This isn't just some 'stupid' business, Ms. Javier that's why I want you to come with me."
"You what??!" I snapped with my eyes narrowed at him.
He just looked at me with pointed look.
"Hindi ka naman siguro bingi ano? I want you to come with me because you're my assistant secretary and because Milary is busy right now so it's just normal na sumama ka sakin."
"At hindi ka pa naman siguro singkwenta para maging ulyanin ano? I'm just your 'pretend' employee here and besides, I am not here to guard your sorry ass."
He groaned as the twitching of his jaw intensified, indicating that I've hit a deadly nerve.
"I didn't mean that you have to guard me, Ms. Javier because I can do that myself. And I doubted if you could even do that to yourself."
"Then why hire me kung ganun naman pala? Tapusin nalang natin ang kalokohang 'to and let's just go back to being strangers. That simple." Inis ko ng sagot rito with my hands rested on my hips.
This bastard really get my beast self out of me everytime na ibuka nito ang bibig nito. So full of himself, thinking like he was that so great!
"No."
My eyes narrowed at him when I heard that.
"Not when I say so, Ms. Javier.. You have signed a contract with me so you're stuck with me until this case end. That I think matatagalan pa 'yon." Then the bastard smirked, mocking the hell out of my poor soul.
Can't I just shot him on his thick head now para mawala na sa paningin ko ang gagong 'to?
"You know what? If looks could just do what my mind want to do with you, you would've been dead by now." Wala sa sarili kong saad rito out of my annoyance. I can even imagine my face now reddened in anger, looking like a riped tomato ready to rot.
Mas lalo pang kumulo ang dugo ko when he just smirked saka sumandal sa upuan nito with eyes strangely scanned me up and down and then back to my eyes.
"And if my look could just do what my mind want me to do with you....."
My gaze narrowed into thin slits when he trailed off, challenging him to spout any stupid comment.
"...you would've been in my arms by now, Ms. Javier."
My eyes almost separate from my own sockets at that as my breathing halted at that.
This bastard! He really know how to make me feel like this pag gusto nya! Focus Sam! Focus. He was just doing this to shut you up and lose the argument.
With that thought, I swallowed hard then took a deep breath, trying to calm my shaky nerves.
There's no way I'd allow him to win this time.
"D-Don't.." Shit! Andito na naman tong uutal-utal na bibig ko!
Huminga uli ako ng malalim before I opened my mouth again while putting up an unaffected face
"Don't make me laugh, Mr. Del Fuero. Akala mo siguro nagbibiro lang ako sa bagay na 'yon, ano?"
"And you think nagbibiro din ako sa bagay na 'yon, Ms. Javier?"
My lips pursed tightly when he gave me a challenging look and a smirk in the side of his mouth, obviously enjoying my reaction.
He really think na madadala ako sa kalokohan nya. Huh! As if hahayaan ko lang yong mangyari. The hell I'd do that.
"Whether it's a joke or not, Mr. Del Fuero, wala akong pakialam sa'yo.. Just keep dreaming till you die with it."
"And who says I'll be the one to die when you're the one I'm strangling in my arm?"
That made me frowned at him in confusions.
Strangling? Did he mean--
"Yes, strangling Ms. Javier. Ano pa bang inaasahan mo na gagawin ko sa'yo aside from that just to shut you up?"
Perhaps you can start with kissing me? The outcome was just all the same. You can shut me up in your arms.
Bad Sam. bad. Nasa gyira ka ngayon, wala sa bisig niya! Now's not the time to wander in that perverted but exciting thoughts.
Popping up my chest, I crossed my arms against my chest.
"And you think na maniniwala ako na magagawa mo talaga 'yan sa'kin?"
"And d'you really think na hindi ko kayang gawin 'yon?" He answered with raised brow, not backing out.
"Well, kung ganun man, let's see then kung seryoso ka nga diyan sa sinasabi mo.." Then ignoring the suspiscious look on his face, lumapit na'ko sa mesa nito.
"And what are you doing?"
I just shrugged at him and then leaned my hands on the table nang tuluyang makalapit.
"So now, malapit na'ko sa'yo, ba't di mo na'ko sakalin ngayon? This is what you want to do with me right? Then start now."Hamon ko na rito and leaned my head more closer to his face, leaving only a foot away from his own.
He just blinked his eyes a few times and frowned at me while staring straight into my eyes.
"Don't challenge me, Ms. Javier..."
My eyes instantly rolled upward at that, sounding like he was giving me a warning.
"Well, I'm just giving you a chance para gawin ang gusto mo. Akala mo siguro aatrasan kita sa lahat ng hamon mo? Oh please, 'wag ako 'yong hinahamon mo, Mr. del Fuero."
"Careful with what you're telling me to do, Ms. Javier. I am not someone---"
Hindi na nito natapos ang iba pa nyang sasabihin nang biglang bumukas ang pinto, causing me to jump out away from him lightning fast. And then the gasping Milary came in, looking like she had ran a marathon before she came here.
Bad timing Milary..
"Sir! Bad news!" Bungad nito which caused him to jolt up from his seat, alarmed with it.
"What is it, Mrs. Diwane?"
She breathed in then answered.
"Tungkol 'to kay Mr. Izuki, sir. His assistant called in na mamomove ng 1:30 ang appointment niyo instead of 1pm--"
"What??!"
I groaned and then glared at him when he suddenly shouted that with powerful voice, surprised with it.
This bastard really know how to surprise me..
"Anong ibig mong sabihin, Mrs. Diwane?"
Milary seems used to his hard as rock attitude dahil hindi man lang ito natinag and just answered him with calmness.
"May kausap pa raw po siyang tao ngayon and--"
"And who's this someone na kausap niya ngayon, Mrs. Diwane?" Putol nya, now ready to bite Milary's head off kung mali ang magiging sagot nito.
"From ECC, Mr. Enriquez, sir."
Hearing that, his eyes narrowed into thin slits as his hands balled into fists.
Oh-oh..
"Ms. Javier."
That pulled me out from my thoughts saka tumingin rito as he hastily organized his things.
"Come with me now. No buts and we can just resume our discussion later."
Good enough.
Nang matapos nitong iligpit ang mga papers na nasa mesa nito, agad na syang tumungo sa may pinto and stopped sa tapat ni Milary.
Sa isang tingin lang, no worry can be detected on her face.
Siguro dahil hindi naman talaga ito concern sa company na'to.
"Make sure na walang makakapasok dito habang wala ako. "
She just nodded and then followed him with her eyes.
Slowly shaking my head, agad na'kong sumunod kay Mr. Del Fuero but not without saying a goodbye to her before I followed Mr. Del Fuero na malapit na sa may elevator, walking with stiffed back and with giant steps.
I think gulo ang kahahantungan nito mamaya... Kung hindi lang sana sa Enriquez na 'yon... Exciting na sana ang mga nangyayari ngayon...
Shrugging that thoughts away, mas binilisan ko nalang ang takbo ko before the bastard closed the elevator and leave me behind.
And good thing I have wore a comfortable outfit and shoes today kaya naabutan ko agad ito sa may elevator.
No conversation was ever made inside the elevator. Well, I'm sure his mind was on that other bastard, Enriquez. I wonder kung bakit ganito nalang ang alitan ng dalawang 'to.
"Where do you think you're going, Ms. Javier?"
When he asked that, I stopped opening my cardoor and turned to his way with furrowed brows.
"I'm driving my own car, Mr del Fuero."
"Sumabay kana sa'kin. Come now." he firmly said then headed to the black car nearby.
Though being alone was muchmore preferable to do, I think mas mabuting sumabay nalang rito. That way, I can get a chance to experience a ride in his luxurious car.
With a sigh, agad nakong sumunod rito without any complain.
And when I came near him na nakatayo lang sa may pinto ng driver's seat, laking gulat ko nalang when he suddenly throw his car key to my way. Agad ko namang sinalo 'yon kahit na gusto kong mafall ang taong--ang susing 'to.
"What's this? A gift for me?"
He scoffed then shook his head.
"Keep dreaming, Ms. Javier. Drive the car now. We don't have a whole afternoon para tumunganga ka lang diyan." Then with that, he opened the door at the backseat saka pumasok, leaving me scowling while throwing a sharp glare at his way.
This shit! Kung hindi lang sayang ang gasolina ko, Isinaksak ko na sana 'tong susi sa baga mo!!!
"I am your P.I, not your bloody driver, bastard!" Galit na naibulong ko na lamang sa sarili ko. And then with heavy steps, I get into the driver's seat then drove off when he gave me the address of our destination.
Throughout the ride, ni ha ni huhu wala kang maririnig from him. Kahit halos ibangga ko na ang sasakyan nito, driving it like a mad racer, hindi parin ito umiimik.
Probably busy killing Mr. Enriquez in his mind kaya parang hindi nito alintana ang mga kalokohang ginagawa ko ngayon. He just sat silently at the backseat while glaring outside the window.
I hope ganito nalang palagi ang gagong to.
It didn't took us long to get yo our destination. I quickly parked his car in front of a tall building with 'IZUKIs COMPANY' displayed outside.
Just... Okay. As tall as DFCS.
The moment the car had stop, agad na itong lumabas before I could even turned off the engine. Dumiretso na ito sa loob, not even waiting for me kaya halos patakbo na 'kong sumunod rito, just to keep up with his hasty 2meter-long steps.
Damn with this giant man!
Pagpasok ko palang sa may lobby ng building, I saw him stopped in front of the elevator with his back as stiffed as a fencing post.
Shaking my head, nilapitan ko na lamang ito.
"Mr. Del Fuero, what---"I suddenly stopped when the elevator had opened and then two people in suit came into view. A short japanese old man and----
Enriquez!
My eyes instantly went round when I saw his handsomeness again. Shit. This isn't good, Sam. Hide in Mr. Del Fuero's butt now before he'll saw you! Faster!
Without giving it another thought. I inwardly nodded at that, agreeing with that thought.
And when Mr. Enriquez and Mr. Japanese old man noticed him, I quickly hid myself behind him, pero hindi sa pwet nito kundi sa puso nito. That if he even have a heart.
"Mr. Del Fuero! Maaga ka yata. 1:30 pa naman ang meeting natin. Hindi ka ba nainform ng secretary ko?"
Oh.. So he's Mr. Izuki.. Hmm. He's quite good in Tagalog but his japanese was still obvious.
"Yes. Mamaya pa nga, Mr. Izuki but I have to come here early dahil may kailangan lang akong kausaping tao na mas maaga pa yatang dumatingrito kaysa sa'kin."
"Oh.. Ganun ba? Then I think kita nalang tayo mamaya dahil may kailangan pa'kong gagawin. Mr. Enriquez, pag-aaralan ko muna ang proposal mo. I have to go now."
No answer came out from the twoand just killed each other by their dagger stares.
Tsk, tsk.. I think ayokong pumagitna sa dalawang to. Ayoko pa namang mamatay ano, not now when I am just starting to unravel the truth behind dad's identity and the incident years ago.
"Cameron, as always, late ka na naman."
"And as always, pinipilit mo paring talunin ako when it's clear as the day that you'd never beat me with your dirty moves."
Damn. Ganito pala magbangayan ang dalawang 'to.. So straight to their balls' eyes.
"Well, tingnan nalang natin kung sino ang pipiliin ni Mr. Izuki. I'm sure, hindi naman niya siguro pipiliin ang tulad mo."
Na gwapo pero 'sing tigas ng bato kagaya mo? Then you're right, Mr. Enriquez.
"Bakit Charles? Ano ba'ko para hindi piliin ni Mr. Izuki?"
Agad na kumunot ang noo ko when I heard how Mr. Del Fuero had called him.
Charles? So they're in first name basis?
"You know so well na nangunguna ang company ko rito and even abroad, so he has no reason to reject my proposal."
Though still curious, I absently nodded my head at that, agreeing with him.
"No one would dare to choose you once everyone would find out that you're a son of a murderer."
A loud shock gasp suddenly escaped from me as my eyes widened in shock at the mention of that last word.
Murderer????!
Holy shit!
"Ms. Javier!"
When I heard Mr. Del Fuero's deadly voice, my eyes blinkedup a few times saka tumingin rito and then to Enriquez na matalim ng nakatingin sa'kin with obvious recognition on his face.
Oh shit!
"It's you!"
Yes. And it's you too.
