บท 38: Side Story 2

Somewhere on Mars...

The starship where the Emperor was riding slowly descended on the planet. It slowly turned its engines off and parked on a hangar on a vast secret underground laboratory. He's here to check upon the modules he contracted to be created to revive some angel.

He originally didn't want a war against the Empire just for the sake of it and flexing the muscles of the Imperium. He deemed it too childish. But all of that changed when he saw a sketch of Sanguinius. He felt the nostalgia where his son fought that bald unfilial son of his only to be obliterated in the process. So he researched on ways on how will he bring a soul that's already obliterated back to life. He then thought of using the way on how he came to be. Sacrifices. So, he commissioned the creation of these module. And with the war as a cover, he can harvest souls of the living beings here to revive Sanguinius.

The Emperor with Constantin Valdor, Kitten and other custodians walked out of the starship as thousands of technopriests welcomed them respectfully.

"Your majesty...brr brr... the module has...brrrr... been completed." said the technopriest with a weird electronic voice who's the leader of the whole research group.

"Is that so? Very well, take me to it." said the Emperor as he motioned for the technopriest to walk ahead and guide him to the module.

The technopriest bowed and strated to walk as the other technopriest followed shortly. The Emperor and his custodians also shortly followed as they went on to hundreds of security and identification measures to ensure everything.

After hours of walking they finally arrived on the deepest part of the planet. It's the laboratory where top secret technologies are being developed. It has thousands or probably tens of thousands of technopriests doing work here and there. Large mechanical arms helps with the assembly of things.

This whole laboratory became the center of the technological advancements of the whole Imperium. All sorts of advance gadgets and technology was lying around here being tested one by one. The special types of technology which needed big rooms to try qas on a special type of room in conjunction with this whole hall.

But what took everyone's attention was the big thick spearhead like module in the center. It has special markings on the whole body and someone was praying in front of it.

The Emperor looked enthusiastic as he slowly walked to the modules. He observed the whole. module carefully as even touched it lightly only to hear the low clang of a thick metal. When the Emperor touched the module it glowed a bright gold and the inscriptions also lighted up.

"It's made up of Auramite and a this black metallic ore." said the Emperor as the looked at the modules with content.

"Yes your majesty, it's mde up of different materials and each of them is important to achieve your criteria." said the technopriest with proudness behind his electronic voice.

"Very well, then let's try if it works." said the Emperor as he slowly walked to the special golden throne prepared for him. The psychic energy storage for the module still hasn't been completed so this throne will directly provide the energy to the modules instead of an energy storage.

He touched the armrest of the golden throne and just chuckled as he thought of a good joke. He sat down comfortably and let the wires connect to his body. Constantin Valdor slowly walked towards the Emperor to ensure that everything is fine and okay.

"It's been a long time since I sat on a golden throne again. What do you think guys? Do you think I look good when sitting on a golden throne?" asked the Emperor with a chuckle which earned him a weird expression from Constantin and the Captain General who didn't know what to do, they can't laugh as it's disrespectful nor can they be angry as it's the Emperor who made the joke.

After a quick decision, they took the poker face route and just decided to treat the joke as nonexistence.

The technopriest took and started to check every computer and electronic device. After sometime, the check finally was done and the trial has officially started.

The Emperor just nodded as he used his psychic power. He transferred the psychic power through the numerous wires connected to his body as the modules started to light up.

The modules opened revealing a cannon like object inside which slowly powered up. After a couple of seconds the beam was fired on the other module as it created a portal like object in the center. The portal looked like a container as its border has this dull wavy golden color effect. But the inside has no color, it's just white.

The Emperor on the other hand just sat there with a long look on his face. His expression didn't reflect what was truly happening.

When the Emperor transferred psychic energy to the wires, his consciousness got pulled on a weird place. He's calm at this moment as he seen far worse of this kind of tricks. Some of the times where he got pulled into this kind of dream, he was almost raped by someone.

But the scene in front of him, was so calming. He didn't know what or where this dimension or whatever it is called is.

He's currently standing on a floating shrine with a stone slab at the center. Due to curiosity he slowly walked to the stone slab to touch.

"Hmmm, it feels so real..." said the Emperor as when he touched the stone slab changes suddenly happened. The surroundings changed to a library, the library was golden and shining in bright light. The Emperor immediately adjusted his eyesight and observed everything.

"I can't feel its end..." said the Emperor as he tried to sense the whole library with his psychic energy but failed to sense any end.

He slowly walked on the aisle and slowly touched each book. The book has no name or any information on the cover, it's only either gold or white in color. The Emperor tried to read a white book but he soon found it's empty, no content. The gold books on the other hand has contents, complete contents of his memories. Each book signifies a day of his life and every memory there, it's all written on the golden book with a complete detail.

He theorized the white books are either something important or it's the free space for his memories.

As hours went by, he eventually reached a hall, the hall has no lighting or whatnot. It's only black. He decided to enter the room and investigate. He used his psychic ability as his eyes as he navigated the dark hall.

When he entered the hall, there's a big pile on the center . But this books has fire markings on it, as if destroyed or burned.There are only a good number of books that's still somehow intact as the other was clearly blackened or straight up ashes already. The Emperor picked up an intact dull colored gold book and read its contents. The book he took has almost nonexistent contents as it's too incomplete.

But what made his interested is the book he's currently reading tells something about a laser from the moon. He don't know what laser this was but he can infer that he or whoever this memories or if this is even a memory surely has seen or experienced this laser.

As he was reading this, he realized something, if the gold color is his memories, then doesn't this mean the current book he's holding too is his memories? But from the looks of it, it was a destroyed or rather damaged memories. If it's destroyed, then who did it?

The realization came like a thunder to Emperor as he lost his grip on the book and let it fall, he didn't know what to do or react due to the realization. Something or someone must've deliberately destroyed or damaged his memories and he didn't eve noticed it. For once, after they came to this galaxy, the Emperor was on guard for a threat he perceived must be greater and more powerful than him.

But as he was about pick up the book once more, he lost his consciousness.

Secret Laboratory on Mars...

The Emperor suddenly woken up as his long look disappeared in exchange for a conscious look as he immediately stood up.

When he stood up, the wires connected to him got snapped and torn apart which interrupted the beam of the two modules.

Constantin immediately reacted as he ran towards the Emperor to ensure everything's alright.

"My liege, are you okay?" asked Constantin seriously to the Emperor. The Emperor just looked at him and slowly nodded.

"I'm fine Constantin, I just remembered something, anyway, let's re run the experiment." said the Emperor with a light chuckle to Constantin to ensure him that everything is fine. But Constantin knew better than anyone, the Emperor didn't usually react as if he's shocked. Surely, something has happened.

"As you wish my liege... Technopriests! Re run the experiment!"
