The expanded space hadn't been earned. That wouldn't have mattered when she had first arrived, but a Dragon never took responsibilities lightly, and she had already learned a great deal about the corporations that controlled this System.
Here, money was quite literally power. Among the leading corporations, the previous King had apparently pulled off what seemed like some kind of magic trick to the people raised within this artificial governmental structure. He had sold most of his corporate holdings and bought an entirely different corporation with the proceeds. The trick was that it had been done deftly enough to maintain sufficient corporate value that by the time it was measured again he had held his rank.
