LAIS
The day starts with a somber mood. I can't find the mood to even pretend to joke around.
What happened last night was not a joking matter. What if it happens again? What do I do if something happens to Elen? I can't…I can't imagine a life without her. I don't want to live a life without her. And yet last night, when she was fighting for her life, all I could do was watch. I really am useless.
Elen and I had our breakfast in silence, both pondering the gravity of the day that has passed and the day to come.
I sigh, looking down on our meal. Meals should be had in high spirits as they are blessings, but I cannot help but feel deflated at the moment.
"I will be okay. Do you seriously believe a mere thing like that can possibly bring me down?" Elen says, eating her porridge like nothing is wrong.
"But we're in the middle of a mission. What if…" I start to say.
