บท 49: Suspicion

His eyes are buried deep in sadness again.

"We will get it back, no matter what. I promised, remember?"

He looks at me, managing a weak smile. A tired smile, a smile that shows the heart of a man who is near giving up. 

"No weakness, no giving up. We will make it through this," I say, looking him in the eye. "We will first have to think of what we will do now," I add.

He nods weakly.

"We could inform the authorities of the truth, we have enough facts," I try to say.

He shakes his head.

"It would take too long. You know how the judicial process is. And if it's found that he knew the occupation of his wife, it wouldn't end well for the happy couple," he explains.

Right, that makes sense. 

"We'll have to get into the fray, have The Covenant admit that they killed the governor."

"You mean get into the fight? By ourselves?"

"We just need someone to confess and take the blame."
