บท 3: 3. Clean up
Sam and Chris made there way down the stairs with their weapons at the ready. Slowly making there way down the stairs Sam could hear shuffling and growls. Making it to the bottom two monsters to the left and one feasting on a body right in front of them. Sam took lead and slashed his sword down on the head of the feasting monster. Cutting in to the back of its neck the monster went limp. A ding was heard as the robotic voice sounded.
*You have killed Crazed Cannibal*
Received 20 Apocalypse Credits
Shaking his head clear of the voice Sam turn to the other cannibals to see Chris swing his mace down on one of there heads. Not wanting to sit back Sam charged with his shield at the other knocking it back. Chris feeling his mace crush the cannibals skull faltered and backed away from Sam.
"Chris I need your help stand strong" Sam yelled, slicing the cannibals arm. Chris takes a deep breath and squared up to the cannibal and brought his mace down on its neck. With a sickening crunch its collarbone shatters and head sinks inwards. Chris backs away panting hard and sits on one of the various crates nearby.
"I hope I get use to this soon, every swing makes me want to throw up" Chris said looking at his gore covered mace in disgust.
"I know but they aren't human anymore, Hell this entire thing feels like a game for that sick gods entertainment" Sam replied looking through his status screed. A notice popped up on the status screen
*Material nearby to create skeletons. Use Summon Skeleton spell to summon*
Sam reading the pop up looked at the dead bodys of the the Cannibals muttered a incantation. The closest body had a glowing green ritual circle form around it and sunk into the ground. The circle disappeared and left a black mass, Sam stared intently as two boney hands jutted out and a skeleton clawed its way forward. The black mass dissipated as the skeleton freed itself and stood in front of Sam.
"Holy fuck what did you do" Chris said dumbfounded at what he witnessed.
"I don't know I read a message from the menu and a spell popped into my head" Sam said as he circled the skeleton observing it. Looking at the other two corpses Sam repeated the spell and collapsed to his knees right after he finished. Sweating and panting Sam watched as two more skeletons pulled themselves from the abyss and line up with the first one.
"This is so cool but I feel like I just ran a marathon" Sam told Chris while catching his breath. Chris got up and helped Sam up.
"Let move on maybe we can clear the store by morning" Chris said pointing at the three minions. Looking around Sam found a pallet and started to take it apart.
"Dude we dont have time" Chris said walking to the swing doors leading to the frozen goods im isle of the grocery store.
"Hold on I want to make clubs for the skeletons. They won't make it very far with just their hands" Sam replied back focusing on what he was doing. Chris looked out the small window on the doors looking around when two cannibals came running past the door. Chris stopped holding his breath seeing the monsters not caring about the door.
"Take these and follow me" Sam said as the skeletons walked over to Sam and grabbed the makeshift clubs. Sam made his way to the door and tapped Chris on the back.
"You ready, I'm going to make the skeletons go first" Sam whispered to Chris who nodded back.
Picking up the mental command the skeletons started to move before Sam said anything. Seeing that he didn't have to talk to the skeletons Sam was even more excited to see what they could do. Marching out of the door the skeletons turned left as Sam and Chris followed behind. Walking to a display cooler the skeletons charged raising their makeshift weapons and attacking something on the ground. Sam got closer to see a cannibal being bludgeon to death as it was eating. Sam received a notification on his kill and was excited he could get the credit for the kill. Casting Summon skeleton on the cannibal, both bodies disappeared and two skeletons pulled themselves from the abyss.
"Why did two skeletons come" Chris asked Sam.
"It took the corpse of a shopper with the cannibal " Sam replied saddened over what happened.
Chris seeing Sam's emotions change tapped him on the shoulder and kept moving with the first 3 skeletons. Shaking his head Sam issues a mental command for the two new skeletons to follow the first 3. Moving forward the skeletons engage in a large melee with 4 cannibals as two more charge Chris. Side stepping one Chris swings his mace into the side of the cannibal as Sam slashes the one Chris sidestepped. Engaged in the brawl more cannibals started to show up. Sam used Raise Skeletons once more to add to there side. Chris focused on a corpse and muttered a incantation after his killed a cannibal.
"Haha I did it you see that" Chris yelled to Sam excitedly.
"How can you do that" Sam replied amazed at what Chris had did. Chris tried to reply but more cannibals joined the fray. The melee grew bigger as more cannibals joined in and more skeletons where raised. Having killed multiple cannibals a ding sounded.
*Congratulations you have leveled*
Sam was elated as he felt stronger looking over at Chris, he had the same happy smile. Focusing back on the cannibals Sam notice they where losing ground.
"Chris we need to form up before we are overwhelmed" Sam yelled to Chris who just nodded. A formation started to be formed by the skeletons with the first three positioned like squad leaders. A circle like formation was formed and this seemed to hold better as they were surrounded by cannibals.
