The throne room was quiet, everyone to their thoughts and waiting for me to talk. Lilah was watching me, encouraging me, damn I love that woman. In her regal wear, it was almost impossible to forget that she was a shadow hunter.

Her runes so beautiful they made me want to jump her right at that moment.

Carl and Darius had stoic faces on, but anyone could tell it hurt to hear his mother be at the center of everything. Well at least he was old enough and powerful to the point that no one would ever step on him, but there was no telling what he was thinking.

Sure everyone assumed he was strong, but his grip on his mate's hands said otherwise.

It hurt to see them like that. It hurt to see the strong Carlos Medina almost crumbling. Mikhail was looking at me, trying to give me the stare, but we both knew that no stare would fix what was about to happen.
