Serenica could not resist the temptation to dig up anything and everything about the angry widows. It was a topic she had often thought of – women stayed home, as silent victims of the violent ways of men. Of course, the good doctor herself was an exception, but that made no difference to the general rule of thumb. She knew the person she had dreaded the most had been a bitter woman, and she herself was a woman, as dangerous as any of the elite outlaws. She had taken a step away from the traditional way of viewing herself and others through gender. In piracy and healing, it made no difference.

Serenica tried her best to enjoy the voyage aboard her beloved Princess, but the wistful feeling in her chest was too much and she ended up smoking more tobacco than she had any right to. Her throat was hurting from all the stray wisps of smoke that had licked it from the inside.

She loved the king and could not bear to be away from him for too long.
