บท 209: Sparks in the Water

The chase went on for so long that the crew of the Nightmare was getting more than a bit tired. Serenica still lived in a constant state of anxiety. No amount of wind jars or blood in wind jars seemed to help, and it was not like they would have dared to make a lot of them, anyway. There was only a limited amount of a steady gasp in the sails that the ship could take, and besides, it was not healthy for the soul to be playing with blood all the time.

Serenica was afraid that the Maroon King would catch up to them, but she did have an ace up her sleeve. Near them, along the coastline, was a treacherous place that was ripe with sharp rocks covered by murky water, and it was also the final resting place to many sailors.

Serenica did not trust her own abilities in sailing, but it seemed like she would not have much say in the matter. The Maroon King had a say with his mere presence as a growing dot on the horizon, and the answer to the question she was pondering was yes.
