"Law? What law?" Spade laughed. "The crown is the law."

"Well, he's right, you know," the Dreamer said. "But damn it! Can't you give me a cigar like that? I have never craved anything more."

The captain reached for his pocket. "You're not against it? Good. I wouldn't have backed down anyway. But let's hear what the people have to say about it."
