As Maya walked out of the police station with Noah, she turned back around with hesitation. "Aren't you bailing Lucas as well? He's your boss," she questioned.
Without turning back, Noah continued to lead the way, "Let's get out of here first and I'll explain everything later. Like I said earlier, there's a lot that you don't know about Lucas Lee."
The man sounded serious, but Maya didn't know him; she knew Lucas better and she didn't want to abandon him.
Grabbing the man by the arm and stopping him, she demanded for an explanation, "I'm not leaving until you tell me what's going on. Lucas is a good guy, I can't abandon him. He's..."
Before Maya finished what she was saying, Noah swung her hand away and yelled, "He's no good guy! He...he...tried to kill your sister! If he wasn't arrested today, you would be dead now!"
Maya paused and stared blankly at the guy, "What are you talking about?"
"Your sister's accident. It wasn't an accident. I was the one that saved her and I clearly saw Lucas Lee at the scene. I'm sure it was him!"
Maya shook her head in disbelief. How was this possible?
But then, she started thinking about the man's strange behavior and the items that were found in his backpack, and her hairs began to stand on end. Had she really been hanging out with a potential killer all night?
While she stood there blankly, Noah grabbed her arm this time and pulled her away with him. Maya followed silently. She didn't know how to react, but when it came to her sister, she couldn't take the risk. She had to, at least, listen to what the man had to say.
As Noah opened his car door for the woman, he narrowed his eyes with determination. Delilah didn't believe him, but he was going to convince her twin sister that his suspicions were correct.
...
Inside the holding cell, Lucas twiddled his thumbs anxiously as he stared at the doorway. Maya had been gone for an abnormally long time and he was beginning to worry about her. Had something gone wrong?
The man that was rolling on the floor earlier, rolled up to his feet and stopped. Staring up at him with a dazed expression, he asked with a mumble, "Where did your girlfriend go?"
Lucas glanced down at the man awkwardly. [Girlfriend? Is he referring to Delilah?]
"She's not my girlfriend," he replied as he continued to look at the doorway. They were barely even friends.
"Really? Then, you won't mind if I flirt with her later, right? She's hot! Did you know that my new year's resolution is to get a girlfriend? She's completely my type! I can already imagine wrapping my arms around her slim waist, tasting her sweet lips, grabbing her soft breasts, and making her scream my name all ni..."
Before the man finished his sentence, a hard kick caused him to roll back across the cell, into the legs of a big bulky man. "F*ck! Do you have a death wish?" the bulky man yelled as he glared at the drunken man on the floor. This bulky man was the man that had been yelling earlier about someone touching his girl. He was already irritated, so the drunken man had rolled into him at the wrong time. Without waiting for a response, he raised his fist and started punching the guy as though he had been waiting all night to release his anger.
The cell quickly broke into chaos...
Naturally, the police officers soon rushed over to stop the fight. "Break it up!" they yelled as they dragged the two men away from each other.
But when Lucas saw the officer from earlier, he ignored the fight, ran over to him, and asked, "Has my friend finished with her call? Is she OK?"
The officer glanced at Lucas with annoyance. Couldn't he see that he was busy? In a frustrated manner, he brushed him away and replied, "She's gone. She's been bailed out."
He then dragged the two fighting cellmates out...leaving Lucas all alone in disbelief...
[She's gone? Who came to get her? And where did she go?]
Snapping back to reality, he ran up to the bars of the cell and banged on it to get some attention, "Hey! You haven't given me my phone call yet!"
The officer heard the man's voice, but he ignored it. Legally, as long as he provided a phone call within the first 3 hours, he was still providing him with his rights. Since the white powder was still being tested, his aim was to keep the man locked up as long as possible.
...
Inside Noah's car, there was an awkward silence.
"I know it's hard to believe," the blond-haired man said as he focused on the road, "but I am telling the truth."
Maya refused to look at the man. Although he sounded like he was telling the truth, she still couldn't accept it. If Lucas wanted to kill her, he had plenty of opportunities.
"You said that you saw him at the scene of the accident. Did you watch him drive his car into my sister with your own eyes?" Maya questioned with suspicion.
Noah glanced at Maya and saw the doubt in her eyes. Why did both sisters treat him like he was the bad guy? He was simply trying to help.
Shaking his head, he answered, "No...but I know it was him..."
Maya furrowed her brows, "How can you be so certain? Do you have any proof?"
At that moment, Noah drove his car into the underground parking lot of a casino and parked it in an empty spot. He then grabbed his wallet and pulled out something. Handing it to Maya, he said, "This woman went on a blind date with him last year and she was found dead in an alleyway the next day."
Maya accepted the photo with curiosity as chills ran down her spine. It was a small passport photo of a woman in her early 20's with a Chinese appearance. Shaking her head in disbelief, she asked, "But what reason does he have to do that? And if he really did it, why hasn't he been arrested?"
"He's a psycho that likes to play with women. Why do you think he goes to so many blind dates? Psychos are capable of doing anything. And the fact that he's a rich psycho means that he can cover up what he's done with money," Noah said with fire in his eyes.
Maya glanced at the angry man. Why did he seem so worked up about this? "If he's a psycho...then why are you working for him?" Maya queried. She didn't understand Noah's motive.
Noah frowned. He slowly reached into his wallet and pulled out another photo with pain in his eyes. "I'm working for him...because I want to find evidence against him and get justice for the women he's hurt in the past."
Maya raised an eyebrow when she saw this second photo. It was another photo of a woman, but this time, it was an American woman with blond hair and blue eyes. "She is...?"
Narrowing his eyes as he stared at the photo, Noah replied, "She's another one of Lucas Lee's victims. Her name is Nova. She's my twin sister..."
