It had never been awkward between the two of them. Lumielle had never recounted a moment where she wanted to shrink away. Had she made the wrong choice?
"A—"
"I—"
They spoke at the same time cutting one another off as Lumielle bit her lip, "Please, speak first."
A slight sigh escaped his lips as he tugged at her hand, pulling her closer as they escaped the confines of the house and walked into the garden. She allowed herself to gravitate closer to him. It was just another one of those habits.
She was never good at comforting others.
Aristele often suffered due to this. Lumielle could not muster up the strength to pat someone' back and utter sweet lullabies. She felt awkward and clunky. Cosette on the other hand exuded confidence and kindness, gently tapping on the backs of weeping men and women. She was built for it.
Now was not the time to think about Cosette.
hi hi! i recently got some criticism that honestly made me rethink the first half of the novel. i honestly do have some issues with the first half of the novel, especially in the beginning. maybe i wasn’t as clear as i wanted to be! i know i just took an editing break, but i might be taking another break to REALLY look at the start of the book so i can apply their criticism! i hope you guys can understand xoxo
