There was something about long drives that made it so liberating. So relaxing. Something about riding along an open scenic road and listening to loud music untangles the knots of fear and stress buried deep in the stomach.
Maybe it was the change of scenery — the open field, the refreshing crisp air, the quaint countryside or perhaps driving along the sea and watching the blue tides slap against the hills and roll back with an excitement only it could understand.
Peacefully leaning against her seat, Ni-Na stretched her arm outside the window to feel the cool, dry air.
Sighing, she closed her eyes. "This is peaceful."
"Yes, it is."
Her eyes snapped wide and dashed towards her hand when she felt that firm, warm grip on it. She looked up at him, and there it was, a silent plea in his blue-green eyes, begging her not to pull away.
It was strange, his hand on hers. And it was even more strange that she found no will to pull away from him.
