บท 174: Chapter 169 - Central City.

Tatsuya had been sitting on his seat in the chair. Looking outside, when Miyuki walked in and took the seat in front of him.

Miyuki sat down, crossing her legs as she gazed at Tatsuya, "might I know why did Onii-sama decide to go there?"

Tatsuya himself was wondering about it. That was a stupid thing to do.

Miyuki sighed after seeing him not reply, "they won't be coming after us for a week or two. But, sooner or later, they will chase us."

Miyuki got up and sat beside him, holding his hand, "Onii-sama? What is it?"

Tatsuya turned to look at her, leaning in, kissing her cheek, "It's nothing major."

Miyuki let out a breath putting her head on his shoulder, "if you say so."

Shortly, she placed her hand on his chest, "Onii-sama...is your heart beating faster?"

Tatsuya looked away from her, "it's nothing." Soon, his heartbeat returned to normal.

Rush Valley was also known as the Boomtown of the Broken-Down. It was just north of Dublith. It was a rapidly growing city centered around Automail.

Miyuki and Tatsuya were walking on the busy streets of the town, filled with voices. There were competitions, men and women shouting offers, trying to sell their wares.

Every sales person's eyes scanned over their bodies, scrutinizing their body was an automail part.

"Soooo? We hire a shop, and you build something?"

"Uh...that was the plan." Renting, materials, building the machines for it and then hiding it. It would take a lot, time, people, and money. He was ok with taking a few months before, but now...

He could use the Alchemy to make the process go faster, even build a car directly from enough materials. But, those would be too advanced.

"Forget it, we can do that after the trip is over. For now, I can just build one from choosing the cars around."

"Really?" Miyuki was a bit bewildered by the sudden change.

Tatsuya put his hand around her waist, "Yeah...how about we complete our trip first. Where do you want to go next?"

"I...how about somewhere with the sea?"

"I don't remember any sea around, but we might find a lake or something."

Miyuki chuckled, "that would do."

Nearly a year later,

Miyuki and Tatsuya walked inside the city.

"This is really something!" Miyuki said, watching around like a tourist.

"It truly is; the rumors didn't do this City justice." Central City, really worthy of being the center of Amestris.

Tatsuya took out a note from his pocket, "wait, let me ask where this is."

Miyuki smiled, watching Tatsuya go and ask the address from someone passing by.

They had traveled... a lot...maybe far too much. There were many times she wanted to sit and quit. But Tatsuya seemed adamant about completing the travels.

That did make her realize that he did have some plan, wasn't telling her. There were plenty of feelings she had about it.

Anyway, finally, they got back to the east and then came here to settle down.

Tatsuya walked back to her, "It's on that side." He started walking forward.

Miyuki quickly walked beside him, "aren't we going to wait for the two?"

"No, they will bring the stuff when we need it. For now, this bag is enough."

Miyuki pulled out a silver watch from her pocket, "this thing really has some benefits." She chuckled, "employing Military Officers to carry some bags."

Tatsuya glanced at the watch, "it does, but then there are things like Ishval too. Understandably, State Alchemists are hated."

Miyuki curled her lips, "Onii-sama should learn to enjoy the benefits sometimes."

"Uh...yeah, you are right."

He took out his own pocket watch, "this will be useful to get inside the Military."

"You really think..." Miyuki was about to ask something when Tatsuya suddenly kissed her. He turned her put his hand on her shoulder before pulling back, "Roy said Huges would be able to get us a new house."

"Uh...Yeah, ok." Miyuki asked, a bit confused, but soon she narrowed her eyes, smelling something.

She looked down at the pants she was wearing, sighing in relief. If she were wearing a skirt, then she wasn't sure. She would be ok with whatever was crawling beneath her feet.

While walking, Tatsuya didn't stop frowning. This was dangerous; with most of their powers restricted, whatever was beneath their feet was far too risky for them to handle with just physical strength. It was in a league of its own.

"I heard Hughes has a family?" Miyuki started a small talk, just so that it doesn't look weird.

"Yeah, a daughter and a wife. I heard he always keeps talking about them."

"A daughter..." Miyuki seemed in a daze.

Tatsuya slowed down a bit, "do you..."

Miyuki turned to look at him, startled, "what?"

"No, it's nothing."

Miyuki looked away with a blushing face, "Oh."

Reaching the known address, Tatsuya knocked on the door. It didn't take long until a beautiful Amestrian woman with short hair. From what Tatsuya knew, she was Gracia.

Gracia opened the door to see who was outside.

"Yes, you are?" She saw a young man and a beautiful, maybe too beautiful girl standing with a few bags.

The young lady politely took out a silver pocket watch, "we were sent by Colonel Roy Mustang to find Hughes. We were given this address."

Gracia smiled kindly, "Maes is not at home, but please come in." She couldn't leave them standing out with all those bags.

"We are sorry for causing any trouble," The young man said apologetically.

Gracia shook her head, "You are State Alchemists? Both of you?"

The young girl looked back while putting the bags down, "Yes, my name is Miyuki; his name is Tatsuya."

Gracia looked at them, realizing something, "are you two?" She could easily recognize the look on their faces.

Tatsuya looked towards Miyuki, "She is my fiancee."

Just when he was talking, a small head popped out from the corner of the room, looking at the two curiously. Maybe a bit scared to see strangers in the house.

Miyuki also seemed to notice her; she gestured with her hand for the little creature to come out.

It hid its face behind the wall, although her golden hairs were still visible.

Miyuki chuckled when the head appeared again, blinking its eyes. It made a short run and hid behind Gracia, her small hands holding her clothes.

Miyuki squatted down in front of her, waving her hand, talking in a very soft voice, "Hii."

The little girl talked in a soft childish voice, "Hi..." It didn't take long before she became more open.

Miyuki talked to her in a soft voice, "what is your name?"

The little girl tilted her head cutely, "Elicia."

Miyuki put her hand forward, "Hello, Elicia...I am Miyuki."

"Miiui?"

She shook her head, "no...say...Mi...Yu...Ki..."

"Mi-Yu-Ki?"

Miyuki smiled, patting her head, "Good, Elicia is so intelligent."

"Ehehe..."

Tatsuya looked at them, smiling while he talked to Gracia in a soft voice, "is there a way to tell Mr. Hughes that we are here? You see, he was going to introduce us to the place where we would stay."

Gracia shook her head, "I don't have it, and you don't have to worry about being a burden; Have a seat and let me get some tea and sweets for you."

She glanced at Miyuki, who had picked Elicia in her arms talking with her. She smiled before going inside to the kitchen.

Miyuki sat down on the sofa, trying to talk to Elicia. Tatsuya sat down in front of her as he silently watched the two of them.

It had been a long, long trip. If something that became clear during this trip was that this country, the Military had gone wrong.

The Military was filled with three types of people, those who saw the Military for what it really was. They still wanted to change it from the inside.

The second type was the corrupt ones; more than half of the Military was filled with these people. They were mad, bloodthirsty, and would do anything for a promotion. The third was oblivious to what was happening inside the Military. They were usually the low-rank ones; they were the ones that followed every order without question. This was just how the Military was, probably in every world. But, the corrupted and the mad ones were too high. They had just recently found out the reason why.

When they came back to the East City, Mustang offered them a chance to become State Alchemist. With everything else done and ready, the only thing left was to get into the Military and settle down.

Mustang's offer came with excellent timing. So, they gave the exams, with their level Alchemy, it was easy to pass the practical ones.

That is when it happened, that is when they met the Fuhrer. Seeing him was the reason they decide to come to the Central. But, to think something that could walk in the shadows came to keep an eye on them. He recognized those powers as soon as he saw them. He couldn't be any more familiars with those powers. Moreover, this was the center point of everything wrong with this country, above and below ground.

"Onii-sama...would you like to hold her?"

Elicia put her thumb in her mouth as she watched Tatsuya with big eyes.

Focus returned to Tatsuya's eyes as he watched Elicia, "I?" Holding a child, it wasn't something that he had done before.

Miyuki stood up and knelt in front of Tatsuya, "here, hold her."

Tatsuya raised his hands to gently hold her, "hey...Elicia." She was so delicate, so lovely. It was different from the time when children were nothing more just another number.
