I watched carefully as Freddie awoke from his slumber. he shook his wings and began to twirl around before standing still again. He let out a weird cackling noise before rubbing his head against the metal bars of the cage.
"Thank you, professor," I said softly and opened the cage so that Freddie could walk out of the cage and onto my arm. Freddie had grown a lot and could now sit on my shoulder while leaning its head on the top of mine.
"No problem, I'll see you soon in class," He smiled, "Oh and don't tell anyone about this secret lesson," He winked teasingly. I nodded and Farley said her goodbyes as we walked back to the common room. I had decided that it was best if I would go to the kitchens, we could have some tea and biscuits.
We walked back in silence and I had returned to my dorm room, where everyone except Daphne had fallen asleep. "Your back," She said softly. "I am," I said back in a whisper.
"It is best if we leave now," I said as I placed Freddie on the owl stand in the room. I always wondered how he could fall asleep while standing on the stand. It seemed abnormal but then again I now live in a world where magic is possible and where I could perform magic.
I walked to the door and placed my ear on the door. No sound. Carefully I creaked open the door and checked again. No one. I walked out head held high and cautious with my footsteps. Luckily for me, Theodore and Draco were already waiting for me. Daphne nodded towards the boys and I did not do as much as greet them as I walked out the common room. It was dark outside the common room where the moonlight reflected in the lake did not brighten halls.
I lifted my wand and said one soft word. "Lumos," I forced only a little power into the spell making sure that the light was dim and soft. It was just bright enough for me to see where I was going and for Draco, Theodore, and Daphne to follow.
I heard their footsteps echo through the dungeon halls as we got closer to the painting but the most I could see was the pear. I tickled the pear with my fingers, and just as I started to feel awkward the painting flew open. I barely got out in time for me to see the warm firey glow inside.
There were almost no, house-elfs unlike what I had imagined. It seemed like they were all asleep. There were only these two Elfs that looked so alike they seemed like twins. "Hi, young misses and misters. You are supposed to be in bed!" One with the blue eyes. "We got homesick, could we have some tea," I asked with a sad smile.
"Oh! Of course but after that, you need to go to bed!" The one with the green eyes gushed. I nodded and went to sit on one of the couches while I signed for them to take a seat. After all, we had a lot to talk about.
