บท 25: Chapter 24
Ian's POV~~
We were all seated at the police station waiting anxiously for our families to come, answer a few questions on our behalf and with the right answers provided, have a chance of picking us home.
Thinking back about what transpired back there made me feel queasy.
Help had arrived right after Dylan went unconscious. Eva and Dylan were both rushed to the hospital, and we were brought to the station even though we have not yet been questioned about anything concerning what went on back there, deeming the state we were in.
Just before we entered the car Scarlet had been worried sick about the whereabouts of Brit and insisted we phoned her to know what had happened and if she was safe.
After so many attempts with her phone and still switched off, Eric phoned his little brother to pass on the info to Nathan, for it to be conveyed to Britney. And fortunately, she called back a few minutes later, and we realized she was fine. The copycat, now obviously a psychopath, had used her to coax us in. We didn't notify her about the nightmare we went through, seeing as we were in a police van on our way to the station at the moment.
I glanced over at Sky and noticed her nibbling on her fingers, she usually did that when she was super intimidated. Selena looked worse off with her arms clenched around her body and dry blood stuck on her forehead. No one chattered with another as we sat there, everyone dwelled in their thoughts.
Suddenly we heard sprinting footsteps and Mrs Smith, Sky's mom came rushing in.
“Hey, honey, is everything okay with you? Why are you here?” She bombarded Sky with questions, her voice piled with concern.
“Mom...” Sky engulfed her mom in a tight hug and I presumed she was sobbing.
“Selena?” Mrs Smith exclaimed when her eyes fell on Selena.
“What happened to you guys?” She implored, glancing at all of us. I lower my head in grinch.
“Mr Thompson” a cop exclaimed while looking at the entrance. My heart abruptly skipped a beat and I went cold. I turned my head to the entrance and there was my dad, looking more intimidating than ever. I had hoped it was my mom who would come, completely forgetting about the fact that she had informed me she wouldn't be home because she had a night shift. I lifted my eyes, and our eyes locked. The brief stint of frown on his face didn't go invisible by me.
“Thank you” he chuckled at something the officer said and shook hands with the cop. I watched him with my heartbeat stimulating as he walked over in our direction.
“Was he coming to me? Of course, stupid head, who else would he go to” I said to myself? I put my eyes down when he got to me and...
“Hi, I am Scarlet's mom. Nice to meet you” I heard Sky's mom voice.
“Nice to meet you too, I'm his father” I listened to my dad say. Even though I was not looking, I knew he referred to me. My dad had gone to her without making a stop at my side.
“Can we talk somewhere else?” My dad requested.
“Sure” They left and joined some cops and a chatter broke among them. Scarlet peered at me with eerie eyes. I threw a forced smile in her direction.
No one among my circle of friends had a notion about the kind of relationship I had with my dad since I never babbled about my family to anyone. My family was a wealthy one, my family owned a private airport and my mom was a surgeon in one of the prominent hospitals in the country. With the kind of wealth my family-owned, I still envied others. The soul I envied the most was Scarlet, even though she didn't have a dad, and they didn't have much, just enough to survive and live comfortably on, she and her mom had a stunning relationship which anyone like me would envy.
I snapped out of my trance when I caught a glimpse of Selena's parent and Eric's mom. They joined in the conversation as we sat there wondering what was happening.
“Hey, I'm let's get you home” Scarlet's mom suddenly came up to her and asserted while helping her up, followed by Selena's parent, then Eric's dad. My dad just glanced at me and proceeded to make his way out. I got up and gave the rest a curt nod before following him out.
I hopped into the car beside my dad. He didn't even look in my direction as the driver started the car, and we drove off. The drive home was very awkward and silent.
The driver halted the brakes right in front of our mansion. I opened the door to let myself out and a buzz made me veer around, my dad had received a call, he crumpled his brow and gazed at me.
“Hi...okay” he was uptight, listening to the person on the other line. I shut the door behind me and walked into the house straight to my room.
I washed up while waiting for my dad's critics on me. I sigh and flopped on the bed.
“I hope they are going to be okay,” I thought to myself. We didn't even get the chance to know the hospital they were being admitted in. I wanted to call Sky and ask if we could go to the hospital tomorrow's to see Dylan and Eva after finding which hospital it was, but I don't think it was the right time to do that, maybe later in the morning.
Suddenly my door flung opened and dad entered, his look was odd. The angry demeanor he had on his face back there was gone and replaced by a whole new expression.
“The cops called...” he hesitated and scrutinized me with a sympathetic look on his face. My heart skipped a beat as I sat up on the bed, all the stress I was feeling suddenly absent.
“They are going to be okay right?” I said slowly with a grim look.
“Eva will be discharged tomorrow morning,” he said, not saying anything about Dylan. I sighed in relief but suddenly creased face when I realized, Dylan was still not mentioned.
“And Dylan...” I trailed slowly. He shook his head slowly.
“I'm sorry son, Dylan didn't make it” dad dropped the bomb on me. I felt light-headed and I became pale.
“I need to be alone please,” I said to my dad with my mind still in a daze.
“Okay, if you nee...”
“Just go, okay” I exclaimed. He looked at me and opened the door, slamming it shut when he was out.
