The beta of Freya's pack announced that they had been attacked at the southern borders. I was wondering who these attackers could be when he said that they were a few rogues.
"Rogues are getting bolder with each passing day," Alpha Xavier announced.
"The guards need back up, we should leave," Greg said to the Alpha.
"Minerva, Freya, stay indoors, I don't want any of you out of the house," Alpha Xavier cautioned looking at Freya specifically.
"I will come with you," I said walking with them towards the foyer and then exciting the house through the main door.
They both shifted as soon as we were out of the vicinity of the house and sprinted in the direction where the attack happened. It was easy for me to keep up with them, with my speed. I was just praying Freya, won't do anything stupid.
By the time we reached the Southern border, the fight had intensified. Wolves were tearing into each other. For a moment, I tried to figure out which of them were from our side but then the stench gave away the rogues. I joined the fight taking a rogue wolf who was trying to kill a smaller looking wolf from Freya's pack.
It was difficult to fight them in their wolf form but I had trained for decades and could easily tackle the wolf down and then rip out his heart from his chest. More rogues kept joining the fight and it became difficult to hold them off for long.
It was nearly dawn and the sunlight was tearing through the darkness. From the number of rogues and their way of attacking at intervals, it looked like the attack was well planned.
They had not attacked at once, they were joining at intervals, wearing the warriors down. I noticed the wolves of some warriors were badly wounded but they were still fighting trying to hold their territory.
The vampire attacking in the afternoon and now the rogue attack was a clear indication that something was extremely wrong. This was not a normal invasion by rogues, this was a well-executed invasion. God knows what their plan was, I just hoped that we would be able to hold them so that they won't be able to harm Freya.
I was suspecting this attack was something to do with Freya. Someone was trying hard to get their hands on her and Alpha Xavier and I needed to come up with a good plan to protect her from every threat.
Alpha Xavier called for back up and more warriors joined. Two rogues attacked me at the same time, I held the paws of one of the wolf and pushed him away from me. While the other attacked me from my back, he was about to rip off my ear when a huge brown wolf crashed into us from the side and I was thrown onto the ground with the weight of both the wolves.
I realized it was the wolf of Alpha Xavier if he wouldn't have come to my rescue the rogue would have rid me of my ear. Both the wolves were back on their feet and attacking each other while the other rogue which I had to hold off attacked me again.
I got hold of his hind legs and flipped him around, he tried biting my hands and I kicked his stomach. The wolf howled with pain and I kicked him in his stomach again. He was huge, bigger than the wolves that accompanied him. He snapped his teeth again at my hands and his teeth grazed my wrist.
I pulled back my hands, fearing to get infected from the wolf Venom. The Venom could prove to be fatal for the vampires. The wolf rolled and was on his feet again. He attacked me again, tackling me to the ground, and was about to rip my throat when I held his jaw with my hands.
The wolf's canine pierced my skin as I tried to push him away from me. I tightened my hold on his jaw and pushed it apart with all the force. The wolf howled in agony as I tore his jaw into two. The fight around me died as the warriors subdued the rogues.
I pushed the wolf's heavy body aside and sat up. My hand was bleeding and I could feel a sharp sting in them. Most of the rogues were killed and a few who were alive were being held as prisoners. I tried to stand up but my body swayed and my vision blurred. I realized that I had been infected with the wolf's venom.
Alpha Xavier had shifted back to his human form and had already worn the clothes which they kept in the tree trunks. He noticed me swaying and hurried to me with concern dripping from his face.
"Are you okay?" He asked.
I tried to nod at him and held onto the tree trunk to stop myself from falling. The venom had started showing its effect and my body was giving up.
"Greg, we need to take Gabriel to the packed clinic. I think he is infected with the wolf's venom," Alpha Xavier, called out to Greg.
Beta Greg strutted towards us, I tried assuring them that I was okay, but it was getting difficult for me to stay on my feet. I clutched the tree trunk harder, trying not to fall. Then I felt two arms around me and the next moment I was been thrown onto someone's shoulder.
I tried identifying the person carrying me but I couldn't figure it out as my mind was in a daze, and my vision was blurring more and more with each passing second.
"Roy, you need to hurry," I heard Alpha Xavier's voice.
Guess the wolf carrying me on his shoulder was named Roy. He must be strong because he was moving fast even with my added weight.
"I am trying to be as fast as I can," Roy replied.
"Someone inform, Freya, to be at the pack clinic," Alpha Xavier ordered.
I saw a warrior run in the opposite direction to the one we were headed. I hope Freya would be okay and won't worry much about my condition. I doubted if she would even care, she didn't trust me a bit and had made it quite clear.
The sting in my palms only increased and I felt a burning sensation spreading through my veins. I groaned in discomfort, I had heard about the effects of the wolf venom on the vampires but this was my first time experiencing it.
Usually, both the species preferred to stay away from each other and stick to their territories. Only on a few occasions, I had come across the werewolves. Mostly, it was the vampires fighting amongst each other for dominance.
I realized we had reached the pack-clinic when I was being laid onto a bed. I tried opening my eyes but my eyelids felt heavy. The voices around me started getting louder until I was not able to distinguish them anymore.
The burning sensation worsened until I was groaning in pain. I tried to understand what they were talking about but, my senses gave away, and a deep slumber engulfed me.
