 Thinking up to this point Layton thought back to the message that had been displayed on his mage connector about two days after he arrived in school city, it was an application whether his status as a champion practitioner should be on display for interested parties to view and whether to begin the champion program, Layton had ignored this message when it was shown that he didn't need to reply immediately and had instead focused on the library.

 With the acceptance of the application, some information was displayed to Layton, It turns out champion level practitioners were not just an overhyped state or illusory title but had real tangible benefits.

 Layton had always been confused about the status of champion practitioners, in fact, when he first saw the application on his connector he was perplexed because everyone seemed to have neglected to mention that little detail to him even Makarov had said nothing to him concerning the subject.
