Paisley's POV

I got home tired and exhausted but most of all doubtful and sad

"Hi mom, evening" I greeted the equally exhausted woman. Having to take care of Derek is nothing short of hard work and it's no wonder why she is looking the way she does

"Evening aunt, hope the kids didn't give you much stress?" Asked Evelyn. Gavin stayed back in the car to attend to a call so Evelyn came in alone to pick up Derek

"They did but it was fun. Aurora didn't cry much either, Derek was entertaining her all evening" mom said. Derek and Aurora had developed some form of friendship. She is always in a great mood whenever Derek is around

"That's great to know and I'm so sorry for the stress..."

Mom cut her short

"Don't be, Derek is my family too Evelyn and I had fun with them. It's been a while since I had kids around and today been with them brought back such wonderful memories" she said smiling. I eye rolled understanding what she meant
