"WHEN IS XEROS COMING BACK?"
Devin looked up at me with wide eyes, cocking his head to the side. I bit down on my lip unsurely.
"I don't know, Dev," I heaved a sigh. "I think maybe we should just...keep our distance for a while."
"Why?" Devin looked down at the floor, scuffing his shoes together. "What did he do?"
I swallowed thickly. "It's for your own safety, Dev," I explained softly. "Until I'm sure that being around him doesn't put you in any immediate danger, I don't think you should be alone with him anymore."
"Well when you left me, he was always with me and I was never in danger," He protested.
"Okay, hold on, I didn't leave you -"
"Yes, you did," Devin accused. "You promised that you would do everything to keep me safe -"
"And I have!" I unintentionally snapped. "What on earth do you think I've been doing? Having a holiday?" Pointing to the mass of thick bandages that enveloped my body, I stared at my brother, hurt. "How do you think I ended up like this?"
