The trip itself, from my perspective, was uneventful. There were attacks, the most notable being from carnivorous frogs with sunken sides. Perhaps I'll come back to why that's important, but with your love of action, perhaps not as well.
Around the necks of most of my fellow travelers were placed collars of iron, to which were affixed poles of sturdy oak. Me, they just used a capture pole on, also around the neck.
A capture pole is a hollow pole through which is run a loop of leather, long enough that it can be tightened from the other side. They are often used to control animals, sometimes small children. I didn't bother asking which the guards regarded us as.
We were not taken to the palace proper, with its expansive dungeons. Us, they took to a keep behind the extensive garden. No, not through the garden. There was enough room between the edge of the plant beds and the woods to march us around.
Originally slated to be two chapters, the first showing how the ritual was laid out, with the next chapter being Rhishisikk trying different things to mess with it.
If I rewrite this as a light novel, maybe I'll do that. The webnovel format, however, restricts the number of words I can use.
As always, thank you for your continued readership. I lack the words to express how much I rely on it, even when not writing.
