It was my own fault, really. Remember when I grew twice back to back? I was about thumb size, and still learning how to move with six limbs. I looked big and fat and slow and dumb.
And that was my fault, much as my size kept some of the other bugs away. Not ants, though. Those little guys are the insect kingdom's berserkers.
That night, I'd found a jasmine plant, its flowers all but dripping with nectar. Mm, Nectar.

Oh, right, the owl. So, back to my original, easily distracted mind, I wasn't even thinking of predators. It was night, so I wasn't thinking birds.
The crickets were happily singing, so I didn't even have my [Beast Sense] up. Not that it would have helped; a plunging owl can cover twenty feet in less than a second.
And I know what you're thinking. [Dance of the Wild] is seven points for a single use, and [I Hunt Beasts] is only twelve. And trust me, I wanted the development points to buy those.
