"Does this happen often?"
Hesitant to answer right away, she gathered all her courage to tell Rose "Sometimes I wake up with someone dead next to me, or blood on my clothes" her eyes starting to swell.
After Loula explained what the last thing she remembered that night, Lilith easily concluded her situation. Perhaps it was her professionalism, but Rose took her assumption as the first and foremost reason why this has happened.
Since Loula came in here frantically screaming, she must have felt uncomfortable and perplexed at the situation, the best decision Lilith came up with was to take her cousin, Loula, under her care so she can fully open up what had happened to her and help her. She proposed, "I'll take your case under my hand, will you consult to me?"
The nurses came in after Lilith walked out of the room, and grabbed a shoulder from one of the nurses and said "Ms. Smith will be taken under my consultation, please inform Dr. Wouldertz to transfer back the patient to me"
"Transfer what to whom?" Dr. Wouldertz interrupted and gestured the nurse to go.
"The patient—"
Scratching his center bald head, scuffing his side grey, "Well, Dr. O'Quinn, don't you think this is a little erm… disrespectful? You are taking my job Dr. O'Quinn" his crouching body arched more when he lowered his reading glasses and used his failing vision to look at Rose.
"I am aware, and I apologize for—"
"Don't ya play favourites now" he paused, "Doctor" he chuckled. A single word yet said with mockery at some point.
Lilith could bear no longer, "I understand what I'll be taking. But is it in your power to mock my—"
He interfered again, "A lady can never take a joke, huh?" He gripped her right shoulder. "Go on, I have no interest in consulting such bloodline of yours"
She grits her teeth and let it go. She proceeded to take back the papers from Dr. Wouldertz since no one will do such a simple task for her under Lilith's commands, she got it herself and went to her office.
Lilith took care of Loula for weeks, visiting her room every other day, gathering information about her situation, every single detail she tried to squeeze her memory dry until Lilith came to diagnose her cousin.
Lilith went to her cell, the door clanged when she opened it to enter.
"Loula," she sat beside her bed "-thank you for telling me everything for these past few weeks"
"What is it? I know I'm not crazy, tell them to get me out of here" Loula demanded.
"Yes, you are not crazy. And I can not get you out of here because you did it."
Loula's face was plastered with confusion and disbelief.
"You did it, but you were not aware because you were unconscious during the occurrence. Rather, sleepwalking. Have you ever heard of homicidal somnambulist? Base on the things you have told me this is most likely the reason for your killings."
"MY killings?!" she stood up from disbelief. "I trusted you! Even knowing what you did years ago, I stayed quiet and this is how you label me? A f*****g murderer?" she shouted.
"No, this…. It is a syndrome where a person tends to harm others in their sleepwalk when in deep sleep under the—"
"Unbelievable, Rose!" fluids were filling her eyes, "I trusted you, and you call me, what? A murderer?" she sniffed and mumbled, "coming from you.."
𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘵? 𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘤𝘭𝘢𝘪𝘮𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘪𝘥 𝘐 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘥𝘰 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴 𝘢𝘨𝘰? Lilith started to question herself, seeing her close cousin in tears, she could not help but try to comfort her and wrap her arms around Loula's arms.
"Don't you f****ng touch me!" she violently wriggled her arms away. "Get out of here" she exclaimed.
Lilith was left no choice but to leave her to calm down. Even hesitant to stand up and open the cell door. She turned to look back once more and Loula began to cry on her bed, Lilith could not do anything about it and just left.
𝘐 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘴𝘢𝘪𝘥 𝘪𝘵 𝘴𝘭𝘰𝘸𝘭𝘺, Lilith regretted her decision to tell her right away without proper planning and approach to tell her. 𝘉𝘶𝘵 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘯, 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘪𝘥 𝘐 𝘥𝘰 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴 𝘢𝘨𝘰? 𝘞𝘩𝘺 𝘤𝘢𝘯'𝘵 𝘐 𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳? She groaned trying to think of the things from what she had done years ago. She thought so hard that her head starts to throb.
"Argh, I don't know" pressing her head on her desk. She became drowsy and silently, and slowly her eyes became heavy.
When she opened her eyes, the window showed the starry night. She fumbled to get her phone from her slack and opened, it flashed:
[8:05 PM]
I did not even work much today and fell asleep. Lilith went to the patient's ground where she checks up on her patients. Upon passing by the long aisle of papers, she reached to the door that leads to the patient's ground area or ward.
[8:23 PM]
The nurses are having dinner in the cafeteria, some patients are taken food to their cell, and some are also in the cafeteria for they are not much violent and stubborn they are allowed to go around the hospital but with a curfew.
[8:30 PM]
She stopped at the cafeteria to get herself some dinner since she slept and overstayed, she could not get home at the right time and forgot her dinner and ate in the cafeteria instead. The nurses are avoiding her when they had cleared the table and transfer to others when Rose came to sit in their circle.
[8:45]
Lilith went to the insane ward where Loula's room is at and she headed there to take a look if she had calmed down, when she had reached her cell, Loula is nowhere in the small room. Empty but the bed, wash basin and a chair.
"Loula? Where…" she opened the cell and the door was loose enough to be opened from inside. Lilith panicked at the realization of her cousin's state.
