Ali and I became fast friends. We shared limited interests, but he was always eager to hear my thoughts on world events, music and women. Ali’s interests were varied, but the most important three things in his life were his career, his religion, and American blond women, not necessarily in that order. His infatuation with blonds trumped all other concerns, when an opportunity met head on with his libidinous fantasies.

He had a thing for blondes like no one else I've ever met. I suppose because in his country, fair headed females were a rarity, if not an exception. A blond woman could be a half mile away, walking in the opposite direction and he would poke me and say,

“Look. Lukas, a blonde!”
