"To prove that we truly worship the devil, they let us to be exposed to the sun, and we burned under it. Without casting us to the flames like what they did to the witches, my people died in the most painful way possible."

Noah kept quiet as Lara continued to talk about the dark past of her kind. "The public execution gave the church substantial amount of power to purge the land of the darkness. A lot of innocent witches and vampires were persecuted because of it. Women, children, those who just wanted to live in peace with the humans."

"It's quite a dark tale to be telling your child as a bedtime story." Noah commented.

"That's true. But my father does nothing without a purpose. And he told me that story that no matter where we come from, there's always darkness and light living within us. Evil can come anywhere, and during the purgings, to us humans were the evil ones."
