บท 246: The Portal

Imani's gaze fell to the floor as she pulled the duvet tighter against her body and Lucas leaned against the door, rubbing his forehead. "Imani, are you going to leave me?" he finally said after what felt like hours and Imani raised her head to find him staring at her intently.

"I –" She swallowed when he turned around to face her and shook her head sideways while clasping and unclasping her hands. "I don't want to."

Lucas pushed himself away from the door before he appeared in front of her in the blink of an eye and Imani jolted while he grabbed her hands. "You don't want to leave him too."

"Lucas –"

"Answer me," he cut her off and his grip on her hands tightened a little bit. He wasn't doing it on purpose, he was just overwhelmed by his emotions.

"I'm sorry."

"Answer me," he repeated. His grip tightened again to the point where it became painful and Imani whimpered as she tried to pull her hands out of his.
