"We're eating outside?" Imani asked Lucas, even though it was obvious that they were, as she sat on the seven piece sectional sofa which had a couple of pillows on it. The food he'd microwaved – roasted red pepper pasta and baked chicken – was on the polished concrete dining table in front of the couch along with peach and cream cheesecake, a mango-pineapple slushie for her, and a beer for him.
They were in the backyard and under a gazebo that had glass sliding doors surrounding it and pulled back curtains. They had a clear view of the woods from where they sat and strangely, it didn't bother Imani. Staying up at night had made her get used to the occasional howling of wolves so she wouldn't be bothered if one howled now but she didn't think that will happen because she assumed the wolves only came out at night.
